SOURCE: The power cord is shorting

Normally you need to remove the back plate to replace the power cord, and this is usually held on by one or two screws. With the modern trend, these covers are clipped as well and the screws are of the tamper proof type. Tamper proof drivers and bits are available at hardware stores or some importers of Chinese products. If this does not help you, please come back to me and also describe the back cover. I doubt if you can access anything useful to you through the underside of the iron.

My shark steam iron is leaking when ironing

It is quite possible that this is a defect in the shark G1490F... I had the same problem and it was a crack in the water holding tank caused by tightening the two front screws (hidden) that hold the tank to the base... It seemed fine at first but after a full heating it developed a crack where it had been weakened when it was assembled... I suggest returning it or if warranty is up , throw it away and get something else..

It suddenly quits...i have to juggle the line cord to have a power.

Sounds like a loose connection from the screws inside the housing of the iron. It is a wee bit of a bugger to get INTO this iron, but with a little patience, and a screwdriver (phillips, the + one) you should be able to get to where the power cord connects to the terminals inside the iron. Loosen, and retighten the connection. If the wire seems 'worn', you may have to cut it back a bit and score off some of the plastic, and re-wire.

Taking a Rowenta DX1900 Apart

To get the base off, you have to remove the 2 screws from the face.
the button for the reel has a screw behind it, that needs to be removed.

Take a thin piece of metal, like a spark plug gapper, and slide it in the side to push back the tabs. You have to do it on each side. Remove button and take out screw. The base will come off.

Now you need a special torx srewdriver that allows for the center of the screw to enter the screwdriver.......

Learned the hardway and didn't have the correct torx..... Good Luck
