Air conditioner isn't blowing cold air like it should

Hello, usually this can be caused by either a dirty filter, evaporator coil or low refrigerant charge.

Filter dirty and blowing warm air

If your filter is dirty, the fan inside the house cannot push the cold air thru the evaporator, cool air cannot circulate, this will cause the compressor outside to over heat and even damage it and possible trip some fuses or circuit breakers, with these hotter days you want to change out your filters more often, changing out your filters more often will keep the evaporator cleaner and allow the cool air to flow, easier.good luck!

Rudd air conditioner isn't cooling, blowing ,but isn't cooling my house because air is not cold

Hello, first check if the outside unit is running, if it is then check filter to make sure it is clean and that the blower wheel is clean and not dirty. If the unit is clean then most likely you have a low refrigerant charge due to a leak and will need a hvac tech to come out and fix the leak.

I have a 6 year old Goodman ClJ24. Today I noticed that the motor in the unit was running backwards.Instead of blowing out hot air from the top, it was sucking in air. Also unit suddenly is not cooling.

Yes, once in a while the motor will just start to run in reverse...this is not fixable... you will need to replace that motor...and as you can see if it is not running correctly you will not get proper cooling...

I own a Zenith Air Conditioner, model ZW651OR. It is only a month old and it is not blowing cool air any more. I live in Guam (relatively a hot climate) the size of my room is 10' X 12' and the air...

The problem could be dirty filters, dirty coil, refrigerant charge low, etc. Since it is only a month old I would try to return it if possible.

My house is 1308sq foot living. My outside unit is about 4yrs old, the air handler is about 3yrs old. It cools decent but when I have family over (appx 10 people or more) the a/c keeps running and never...

Yes, change the filter every month or so, more if you have pets. Spend the extra dollars and get filters you cannot see through! If you can see through it it is worthless to start with. You should see if it gets dirty and needs changing. You may have a dirty a-coil, which is the part inside the air handler. If you can get an inside view of it and see if the intake side of it to check it for restriction easily do it. Pet's are the main couse of dirty a-coils from my experience.

It may need to be re-charged, but you will need a licensed HVAC person to check it for you. You can look at it to make sure the suction line (large copper line) is cold and the liquid line (small copper line) will be hot to the touch while the system is running. If there are not these temps it is an indication of needing service.

Check to be sure the large suction line is insulated the entire distance between the a-coil in the house and the outside unit. If not replace the foam insulation.

What size is your air conditioner? Maybe it is under or oversized for your house. It depends on where you live and what materials your house is made of to get an accurate sizing for an air conditioner, but from what you describe I would guess you should have a 2 to 2 1/2 ton air conditioner and a matching a-coil. It may be marked as 24,000 or 30,000 btu's cooling. (each ton = 12,000 btu's cooling) Another thing to look for is the amount of air your air handler is pushing. This is given is CFM's (cubic feet per minute), but may be difficult to determine. Try to find the make and model and maybe you can locate the information online, or at least a phone number for the company to get the info. And lastly you should enough return air for the HVAC system to work properly. At least one very large return or 4 or 5 small ones minimum. An air conditioner needs 400 CFM for every 1 ton of air conditioning in the house.
