Question about Televison & Video
I suspect that the 8 blink pattern is a fan error. If you feel comfortable with trying to do the repair yourself. You would remove the back of the set, look for one or more
small fans, use a vacuum and a lint free cloth to clean the fans blades and inside
rim of fan housing. I found in some models that dust buildup will block the signal
that the fan sends to the microprocessor in the power supply, if the microprocessor
does not detect the fan signal then it shuts the set down to protect from over heating.
Sometimes this type problem is intermittent as you described.
There are other possibilities , but would require an experience technician , with a service manual to follow flow charts to determine which board may be at fault.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
