Ge dryer manual dvlr223e

Make sure your cycle is properly selected with the timer and that the dial knob isn't broken. It will make that noise if you try to start it when the cycle is set to off. Otherwise, you might have something stuck in your blower wheel. Try spinning the drum by hand and if it doesn't move, there may be a restriction causing the motor to hum.

I have DBSR4EB3WW model number. Last night I was drying clothes, tryed to turn dryer back on , turned the button to right to start clothes and all it would do is make a humming noise. ...

Hello Deborah, it could be a number of things, First the belt, usually if you hear a humming and the drum isn't turning, Its a broken or slipped belt, the hum you hear is the motor turning, But with no belt the drum can't turn other things that can go wrong and cause this are the safety switch located by the dryer door has failed, or a thermostat located in the rear of the machine is bad or stuck if you feel you can check these things , thats cool, just let me know you want to give it a try ,

Drum not turning, hear humming noise

the humming noise is from the motor, see if you can spin the drum by hand,if it moves you have a bad motor,if it's hard to turn you could have something stuck in the blower wheel or the belt is jammed somewhere, the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into

GE dryer won't start up - sounds like the drum is stuck.

unplug it,open the door and look up.you'll see two screws, take them out and remove the top panel, then look around three or four inches down from the top and removetwo more screws, one on each side, this is harder than most dryers to work on,not much room to reach under the drum to remove and reinstall the belt, there's also one more screw down on the right hand side below the drum that has to come out also, just remember how you took it apart,if you start it and hear a loud humming sound that's the motor, hope this helps you

I have a whirlpool LP Dryer model #LGR5848E that won't start.

can you turn the drum by hand.
if not i would be concerned that you have a sock or something stuck in the blower sqiral cage.
if you can turn it by hand and it sspins freely, then you may have several issues, broken belt, is where id start,
the fact that you can hear a hum say the motor is trying

When start button is pushed, hums but does not run. Drum does not turn. Belt is okay

It sounds like it is the motor or a stuck/obstructed blower wheel. You can start by opening the door, push the door switch in, hit the start button & see if you can turn the drum clockwise by hand. This might get it going. if the drum does not move by hand then the problem is probably within the blower. post your findings for a follow up

Dryer will not start

I had the same problem and this is how I fixed it ,,, i did a comfortor ,very heavy when wet .....next day i tried to do a new load ...when I turned start button all i got was a hum... I removed screws just inside door at top of lip this releases top of dryer,,,, exposing drum i rotated drum clockwise to check condition of belt ....looked good ....mine is 7 yrs old ...to soon to be motor problem ....so while turning drum i held start button on and finally motor kicked in and this solved my problem...you might be able to accomplish this without taking of panel ..though you wont be able to see belt ....by turning the drum from inside dryer while someone else turns on start button

GE Electric Dryer Older model

it could be the motor capacitor. to check, turn on and carefully give the drum a push in the direction of rotation. if the drum picks up speed and goea ok, then the motor capacitor is faulty. cheap part
