MAKING ICE TOO SLOW

A lot of times, the reason ice production slows down is because the freezer isn't cold enough, usually because the freon level of the machine is low. Sounds weird, but even though the freezer is below 32 degrees F, which is freezing, the ice maker requires the temperature be below 10 to function properly. Another cause for the temperature not being cold enough is if the coils are dirty and ther machine is passing the heat to the machine itself

Fridge section of fridge freezer not cold despite turning thermostat to max. Freezer section appears to be working fine.

Make sure that if it has a "colder" knob in the freezer section that it is not set all the
way over to coldest. This blocks all cold air entering the lower compartment when
set this way. It actually has been eliminated on some models.

Also you may have ice buildup in the stack assembly that feeds
the lower compartment or even a frozen upper compartment behind the back
panel of the freezer limiting air flow to the lower compartment. Make sure to unplug unit if service is necessary in these areas. I hope this is helpful.

I have a freezer top refrigerator in a rental unit of mine. It is only a few months old. My tenant said the freezer is working fine, but the fridge is not cold. He has tried putting the cold switch in...

Have him put a thermometer in a cup of water overnight and set the upper freezer
knob to the middle position and the temp control to midpoint. The refrigerator temp should
be between 34 and 38 degrees. You can get a thermometer at walmart or an appliance
parts store. If you continue to have the problem then change out the defrost termination
thermostat (this was a common failure in many of my frigidaire units). It is located in
behind the freezer back panel, it is clipped to a tube and has two wires coming to it.
Remember to unplug unit before servicing. The part is under 20 dollars usually.
The model number is located in the fresh food compartment on the left side. Hope this helps

My hotpoint top freezer is not cold enough. The ice creams are all melted. I don't see any knob at the top for adjustment. There is a adjustment a the fridge level. I already turned it up to the hightest...

Let the level be set at midpoint and for a start put the fridge off for thsystem to come to normal , the compressor to reset. Now draina nd clean all the cooling coils inside the freezer unit. Look for visible wearing off wires or connection in the temperature sensors. Check lines to the timer, heater and the thermostat. remove panels to check . now clean the compressor contactor and aster all the panels are put back, restart the fridge. If the cooling returns then you willhave to wait and watch if the timer works to auto deffrost. if not replace. If the cooling is still bad then you must check for hte weeakness of the compressor, low pressure of gas. service and refill gas but I would recommend with a good help. Get extimate before you start he work and ask for time warranty for the work. Hope you work this out. Good day

Upper freezer temp. alright Lower refrigerator to

Sounds like the airflow balance is off. When you turn the aircontrol to max what you are actually doing is starving the frig compartment of cold air, cold freezer, warmer frig. It is recommended to set both controls to middle and see if it helps the problem.

Hotpoint model h5525gfpa not cold icing up lower levels, defrosting in freezer upper shelves

If part is cold and part is not, than you should check the door seals to make sure there is not a gap allowing air to leak.

Also there should be a flap that switches from one side to the other. It may be frozen

Bottom of freezer/fridge only getting cold.

Thre is a fan inside the freezer which circulates the cold air around both the fridge and the freezer compartments.
You should be able to feel cold air blowing around the inside, particularly at the top of the freezer.
If the defrost thermostat fails open, the internal fan (depending on freezer) will stop and this can be the cause of the freezer being warm at the top and no ice.
You say the bottom of the freezer is blowing cold, but are you sure its blowing, as it can feel like a cold blow. Of course the fan could have failed or may be the defrost heater itself.
Have a look at this site for some useful trouble shooting

The motor is an "auto damper" that opens/closes to let cold air from the freezer comp. into the refer comp. depending on the temp. There is nothing you can do for maintenance, the little motor runs the damper when needed automatically. Some motors are quiet, some are noisy (grind grind grind) as the open and close. Sort of the nature of the beast, if you're lucky you get one that stays quiet.
