You may have a bad ring/head gasket. Check inside the oil see if there are metal shavings if you have a magnet that will fit in the oil fill see if it picks up any shavings or part of a ring try to move the magnet around as much as possible. Also could be valve guides/seals old and hardened.

do not run or try until you change the oil . sometimes the float sticks in the carb and fills the crankcase with gas . I like to add an inline shutoff valve .

Honda gx620 on golf cart occasionally bogs down & blows enormous cloud of white smoke from exhaust.gas getting in oil also.runs great until this happens

What ussually causes white smoke to come out the exhaust is oil being sucked up in carb. Typical causes are too much oil in crank case or PVC valve. Or really bad piston rings

Blows white smoke dies

Blowing a light colored smoke can be an indicator of burning oil. Have you checked your oil level? If it ran low it may be ceasing from heat and stalling. If it was running rich with too much fuel it should be dark colored smoke which can cause stalls. If your unit has a radiator a bad head gasket may let radiator fluid into the combustion resulting in white smoke. A little white smoke on start up can also just be moisture burning off in the exhaust but this should not cause stalling conditions, however if you're low on fuel that could contribute too. More details are important to narrow down your problem.

Engine only runs at low idle and smokes

Hi,
So now, without the blades engaged, it smokes and then dies?
In your first description it sounded like the engine was under a strain. Overfilling with oil could produce a strain, but since it ran ok until you said you engaged the blades, I would have to ask if the blades themselves, were causing the strain. Sometimes if you cut wet grass, the clippings stick to your underside of the deck and can really build up. Also some rope, wire or twine would around the spindles could creat one. Check this out...
Now, with the "smoke" issue (I'm assuming a blue smoke from burning oil) I'm inclined to think your rings aren't compressing any longer and you're burning oil. You might be in for a rebuild... I hope not.

Engine bogs big puffs of white smoke from front

the engine will bog because the cutting blades are either cutting to much grass or the blades are touching the ground making it hard to keep rpm's then it will smoke a bit

Started lawn mower first time of the season and it ran straight for a good 25 monutes with no problems. i turned it off to move it to the front yard andnow wwon't stay running. will only run for 5 to

Immediate thought is that something got ingested into the needle feeding the carb. Might have to remove the carb and clean it out thoroughly to maintain fuel flow through the engine. Generally if it runs a few seconds and shuts down then it is running off the initial burst of fuel and then starving out for any more from there.

The smoke is oil going in to the combustion chamber, will have to check for broken rings or piston. also if the tractor was stored in a position that the oil would run to the combustion chamber it will do that untill all the oil is burn
