Question about Televison & Video
Hwen checking for a remote to work it is quite tricky but at the same time you must check the IR(infra red)emitter to work-Check the voltage output.
Similarily the input of the IR detector must be checked for a voltage change which may denote that the section works.
But the problem is with a difference of frequency these changes will be shown but the set willnot work as the freq. differs.
So you might need and Oscilloscope to check and it goes beyond the scope of a DIY.
So check you TV also before you keep replacing remote controls or first check this remote on another working set.
