Base from the description of your problem this can be cause by two different reasons.

First the video card of your computer is not properly working and what you can do for that is to open the computer tower and then unplug and replug the video card from the motherboard and then after doing that connect the monitor back and check if its already working.

Second the monitor itself is bad and needs some repair , to check that try using a different monitor with your computer tower to identify the real problem.

If a different monitor work with that computer so the main problem here is the monitor itself is bad and there's a big possibility that some Capacitor are busted or burned inside the monitor and needs to be replace .

How to fix my monitor when its in sleep mode

Hi,
I assume this is a Desktop computer:
The Monitor receives, graphics or text from the PC (personal computer) and displays it on the screen.of the Monitor.
If you see a message on the screen that says * NO SIGNAL * in most cases the Monitor is good, and the Monitor is either not connected to the PC or there is a problem with the PC Check the connections and the video card.
The problem could also be related a failure of the motherboard, memory or the processor

HP W2007 + Xbox 360 = Constant Sleep Mode

the monitor is bad
if it will not power on,
or show NOSIG< with XBOX on then turned off the monitor must show NOSIG>
why not test the monitor on any pc made even laptops VGA jacks works, so that works, its not the monitor.
and bad xbox video caused. but is not it. as you said.
the menu needs sync lines active. to pops the OSD button menu.
so the monitor is bad.

or the cable.

this old monitor runs CCFL lamps.]
im shocked it glows at all up to now.

see got data, but no back light, CFFL is dead.

HP W2007

This HP product contains mercury in the fluorescent lamp
in the display LCD that might
require special handling at
end-of-life:

that means CCFL died, also all do, soon.
(as short as 2 years, full time , they die. 20k hours)
out of your service manual it shows.
ccfl-wcj1avqu0msqxnqr1cdquwfl-1-0.jpg what any running pc connected the OSD menu most work
not in sleep mode.
if there is sinc, H/V pins active
that OSD must work or the blacklamp is dead
use flashlight see, there is data there, see?

HP monitor going into sleep mode right after turning it on

If it goes in to sleep mode, that means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer.
The things to try (from simplest to most complex) are:

  1. Make sure the computer is on and not in "sleep" mode -- press the "Caps Lock" key and see if it lights up the caps-lock light on the keyboard.
  2. Make sure the video cable is connected from the computer to the monitor (that the cable hasn't come loose on either end)
  3. If your monitor has multiple inputs, make sure it's set to the right (probably analog VGA or DVI) input
  4. If your computer has more than one video output (like a laptop with it's internal screen plus the external monitor) then make sure the external monitor is enabled
If none of those solve it, post a comment back here and we can dive in to the more complex tests

Monitor wont come out of sleep mode

I'm guessing you are using a the VGA input of this monitor (the smaller "D" shaped connector with 15 pins) on the back. If not, and you are using the DVI input (larger white connector), then check your PC video output. I've seen this occur with HP monitors when they accidentally get set to "digital" input. Its easy to set that way (even by mistake), but not as easy to reset to analog (VGA). To do that, you'll need to find someone with a DVI output on their video card. Once you connect to a DVI source, the monitir will come on and stay on. You then need to go into the menues of the monitor, find the setting and change it back to "analog". After you do of course, you won't get an image on your monitor until you reconnect to an "analog" (VGA) source.

My monitor goes to sleep and doesn't come back on.

For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode .
Then go to display property and set screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
if still not work then try safe mode then uninstall graphic driver and reinstall.
When you power up the computer press F8 key untill you see windows logo.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Compaq Presario stuck in sleep mode

Connect the monitor to some other computer, e.g., a notebook, and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then the monitor is the problem.
If it does not, then your computer is not putting-out any "video" signal, and so the monitor goes to "sleep".

If you have MORE than one VGA-output port on your computer, connect your monitor to the "other" VGA port.

Or, press-and-hold the ON/OFF button on your computer, to force it to completely shutdown.

Went into sleep mode and will not awake, gives message of not being able ti find vga source, but all connections are good and secure, then returns to sleep mode

Sounds like there could be a short in your video cable. I had this problem occur where i would boot up my pc and after about 5 seconds the screen would go blank. Also give your monitor a reset manually after starting up your box. Just unplug the power cable to it for about 10 secs and see if that helps. Good Luck
