There is procedure to unlock if you dont have your 4 digit pin number:--- Can the Garmin Lock PIN number be changed using the Secure Location, resetting to factory settings and entering a new PIN? Paul.
Once you're at your secure location, the unit automatically unlocks. You can then disable the security code or change it, you don't need to reset.Garmin Lock
Garmin's patent pending theft prevention system that disables the unit from performing any functions until the user types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location. If that is not helping then other option is to get it reseted by the Garmin service center. They will charge a fee to get this done. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. Thanks for your response!!

If you read the article, it is mentioned that if you default pin is not working, someone have actually changed the pin. Either you need to go to the same place where the pin was changed, it would unlock itself or you need to have the new pin that was entered. Unfortunately, there is no bypass. Read few articles mentioned :-

You could go through number of articles and forums. I wish i had a better solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How do i get around my pin code

If you have a PIN number on your device you will have been asked to set a security location. When you are at your security location or within approximately 50 metres of your security location the device will unlock without the PIN number.

My 3 years old son has unlock my Garmin GPS, and it is asking for PIN now. How can i unlock it? is there any master PIN

No, there is no master PIN but if you take it back to the security location you set when you first installed the GPS, it will automatically unlock and you can then reset the PIN number.

Is it asking for PIN? If so, this is your security number you entered when you got the GPS. If you can't remember it, take the GPS back to the 'security location' you entered. It will automatically unlock and you can reset the PIN.

Garmin nuvi 300 asking for pin number

You only have (2) solutions:

1. Take the unit to where the secure location where the PIN was set and it will not ask your for the PIN. Then you can delete it or change it.

2. The PIN is located in non-volatile memory and can not be reset except by the factory.

Attention FIxya: Any other solution promotes hacking. The above options are from the user manual.

Pin is locked

Well what is your PIN number? You had to have set it for it to ask tou for a PIN. If you don't remember your PIN go to the location where you set it and it won't ask you for the PIN. From there you can remove the PIN or change it to another number.

Pin number

According to the c550 owners manual, the only way to bypass the PIN request is to drive to the security location where the PIN was set. When you are at that location the GPS will NOT ask for a PIN. Since you bought the GPS at a pawn shop, you probably don't know the security location either.

In that case, according to the owners manual, you'll have to send the unit back to Garmin to be unlocked. Go to www.garmin.com

I know you won't like my solution but its the only solution available.

Good luck,

ASKING FOR A PIN

The only way to unlock a PIN locked unit is to enter the correct PIN number, or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered. Other than that, your only other option is to send the unit back to Garmin.

The only way to do it is to go to the location you set as "home" in the GPS. When you are at that location, the GPS will not ask you for a PIN and you can then go in and change the PIN.

If you don't know what the home location is, you'll need to contact Garmin http://www.garmin.com

There are so many of these being stolen from vehicles, the PIN is designed to make the unit useless to thieves.

Good luck!

Pin number

The only way to get it going is to send it to Garmin. The PIN is a security lock and Garmin will only unlock and return it to the registered owner ... who is not you. This is to prevent miscreants from stealing them and then selling them at, erm flea markets. You DID ask for proof of ownership, manuals etc from the flea market person didn't you?
