Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

The monitor will not come on immediately when we first turn the computer on. We have to play with the buttons underneath the monitor (ie. the source, menu etc. button) sometimes for fifteen minutes or more and then all of a sudden it will come on. We do not remember changing any settings and cannot figure out why this is happening. Helppppppp!!!!!! Thanks Tim

This is only a coincidence that when you fiddle with the controls the monitor comes on. Just leave is aside and the monitor may come on in 15 minutes.
If so then the fault can be due to poor filtering inthe power supply, poor solder joints inthe main board or the thermally active components.
So use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.
Change suspected capacitors in the circuit/power supply.

I have a dell studio 540 desktop, I need to restore to factory settings but my monitor will not stay open. It opens for a few seconds then immediately goes into power saver mode and turns off, how can

I see two things here, but need clarification;

1) Monitor goes to Power Saver Mode, then turns -> OFF?

Sure that monitor didn't go into Standby Mode?

2) Why are you performing a restore back to factory settings?
Pick up a virus?

Primer;
The monitor receives a signal. A video signal. The video signal comes from the computer.

If the monitor is NOT receiving a video signal, then the monitor will state No Signal.
This is for older monitors.

New monitors do not state No Signal anymore.
It's Power Saver Mode, or Sleep Mode.

If the monitor is truly OFF, the Power On button will Not be lit up.
Or the Power On LED light on the monitor.

Monitor power on LED is lit, or Power On button is lit?

Monitor is not receiving a video signal;

Use a monitor cable from a KNOWN to be working monitor, for a temporary test.
OR,
Use a Known to be working monitor, and it's monitor cable.

Need to find out if monitor cable is good.

Monitor cable checks out good?

Then problem is computer.

The two leading issues with desktop computer failure, is;

1) Computer is dirty inside
2) Power Supply inside computer is bad.

Please post back in a Comment.

Monitor won't stay turned on. You push the on button and it flicks on and then immediately off. Help!

The possible problem of your monitor is may be cold solder, bloated elec. capacitor or defective lcd panel. If you found that bloated capacitor replace it and resolder all pins of inverter area. Defective lcd panel could cause of display flicks then immediately off.

I have a model Q7C4 when turned on it immediately turns off again even if not connected to the computer (ie power only)

Most modern monitors will not run if the signal from the computer is not present. If you can borrow another monitor, see if it will work. If ok, the problem is within your monitor. If the new one doesn't work either, then the problem is likely the video circuit in the computer--a bad video card if it's a desktop, but a bad circuit IC if it is a laptop.

Hp f2105 monitor goes immediately to sleep mode

Sounds like your monitor is not processing the resolution signal from the graphics card. Reboot the computer in "safe mode with networking", from there you can play around with the resolution, start low resolution and work your way up to test the monitor.

The monitor turns white immediately after being turned on for about two seconds; and then immediately turns off leaving an un-powered screen. Repeating this process to gain access the control buttons does...

the problem is most likely you graphics card, if you have installed more than one graphics card you will most likely not get any picture from this.
remove any newly installed graphics card until you have installed the drivers for the latest one.
