Pull cord gets stuck

I recently had a similar problem with an old briggs 3hp engine. In my case the starter clutch was not engaging properly. I then removed the starter rope/clutch mechanism, cleaned it, and rewound the spring. This job is not too difficult but requires a little research if you haven't done it before. It was my first time so I watched several youtube videos (separate videos for the clutch and the starter rope). A few important details on winding the spring were described in the user manual for the Briggs starter rope replacement kit (about $10, including the winding tool). Good luck!

If my generator shut off due to low lubricant will it reset automatically? If not is there a reset valve/button?

The pull cord is like a starter on a car (separate from the motor/engine). If the pull cord will not turn it could be because the motor/engine is seized.

Pull cord for starter is not catching?

There are starter pawls that catch the flywheel when the rope is pulled. They are plastic. You will need to disassemble the unit and remove the starter assembly to inspect the pawls.

Reverse button stuck in on singer stylist zig zag model 477

Unplug your machine and use a cotton swab in and round the button area. Hopefully enough of it will get in there and dissolve the gunk that is jamming it up. If that doesn't work get some "liquid wrench" and some "electronics cleaner" spray... spray liberally allow to set (catch the drips with a cloth) and push and pull the button if you can to work it free. Then wipe up the mess really well.

If it is too bad you may have to take the head apart... a daunting task for most.

Troybilt 5500 generator pull cord locks up...just had it for one year...cord was very easy to pull @ first...but lately it locks up when I try to start it...any suggestions?

your cord is too long is why its binding up ,,,on the tee hand where you put your hand on to pull,,,,take a screw driver and push up the tied knot out and away from the tee handle,,,,take and make another knot about 8 inches and pull the cord back into the tee handle then try it again. Most have a long rope, cord etc for maximum pull,,sometimes they go overboard on the length and it binds up on the rewind of the recoil system

Hi I have a cannon mp470 and it will not pull paper through to print. It either doesn't catch at all, or it will jam to one side.

There is something stopping the paper feed process. Try the following
1. Check and make sure nothing is fallen inside the paper tray
2. Remove anything stuck
3. Even if you are not able to see anything stuck tray to use a air blower and blow air in the tray this will remove anything stuck.

When i try my pull start it seems to be jammed. Why does this happen?

I've had this on a generator. In my case, the sprocket on the starter (it was electric start with back up pull cord) had lodged itself against the sprocket on the flywheel. Poor engineering in the size tolerance probably. Had to just pull the starter and re-install and it hasn't happened since. good luck.
