Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

During the wash cycles, the "Pump Blocked Error" appeared (#37) i.e., the lights were off-off-on-off-off--on-off-on. I Used the "Drain Pump Test" to drain the tub. This has happened a couple of times now. Nothing appears to be wrong with the drain hose. Where should I look to see if the drain pump is blocked? Any other possibilities?

    OK, I've been able to keep using the washer, but have to use "Drain Pump Test" sometimes to empty. This last cycle (heavy duty, second rinse, soak) worked fine. I did notice some water on the floor under the washer and a "warm electronics smell" when I opened the top. It has also seemed to be sounding different during the spin cycle.

Stop using the machine unless you have checked the pump and make sure it is not leaking. The leak is likely coming from the pump and it may result it to short out as may be indicated by the burning smell and its failure to pump out water. Short circuit in the pump will eventually lead to a much much bigger problem which is the burning out of the motor controller module.

Drain water manually by gravity into a bucket or shallow basin but enough to hold the water from the machine. Once completely drained, lay the machine on its front on a cushioned floor to access and check the pump. Replace the pump if leaking or if there's any sign of electrical failure.

Hi.

the pump is located at the base on the unit.

To access the pump:

Disconnect power.
Remove as much water in tub as possible using a sponge.
Move machine forward and tilt it on the front side.
The washing machine drain pump is one of the two motors at the base of the unit (the one at right hand side).
The pump is connected to two hoses, disconnect both and collect water with a container, then remove any blockage.

Before accessing the pump check the drain hose at the back.

Observe all health and safety basics. If you are not sure about what you are doing call a technician ringing the service number available in manual.

While draining, the water level reading from the pressure sensor has not changed for over 3 minutes. There are three likely reasons for this fault. One is that the drain hose or the pressure switch hose has been squashed or kinked and the pump out rate has been dramatically reduced. The second possibility is that the pump is partially or fully blocked. The third is that the pump is not operating due to Motor Control Module, wiring or pump failure. This fault could also appear if the machine is pumping to an unusually high head of drain hose or into an extended length of drain hose. The fourth possibility is a diverter valve fault or blockage, water level is not altering as the diverter is stuck in the recirculation mode, giving the module the appearance the pump is not lowering the water level.

Hi My F&P washer has been doing a error 51 for a couple of weeks, havent had a chance to get someone to kook at it, I stop it and restart it and it washes all the way through the cycle only did this on...


Error code 37 indicates a blocked or not working drain pump but the slight burning smell likely indicates a burned out drain pump motor. Do not use the machine unless the drain pump problem is addressed as it will result in the damage of the motor controller module. It has been found that electrical problem in the drain pump motor leads to the burning out of the motor controller module.

Error code 51 indicates a blocked or damaged diverter valve. It is where the drain pump and the recirculation pump inlet hoses are attached from. It works in directing (diverting) water to the recirculation pump during the wash stage and to the drain pump during the drain and spin stages. Hi! we have a GW609au Fisher & Paykel washing machine with lights 3,6,& 8 displayed during spin cycle. Does not spin. What does this mean please?


It's error code 37 and it means pump blocked error. The machine does not spin because water is not drained prior to the spin cycle. Either the drain hose is clogged or kinked, the diverter valve has failed, or the pump itself is restricted or not working at all. Check to make sure that the drain hose is clear then disconnect power and lay the machine on its front on a cushioned surface to access the drain pump and the diverter valve. Remove the pump's inlet and outlet hoses then check and clear them from any debris that may prevent water from draining out. Check the impeller for any damage or restriction. Make sure the impeller is not frozen or blocked.

Also check the diverter valve for the same condition as the pump described above. The diverter valve is where the drain pump and the recirculation pump inlet hoses are attached from. Make sure the diveter valve is in the drain position while the drain pump is working. Replace the drain pump and/or the diverter valve if deemed necessary.

Suds and then f35 error code shortly afterbstarting any wash cycle.


SUDS error = SUDS LOCK (OVERDOSE OF DETERGENT
DETECTED DURING THE WASH CYCLE)
If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 liters of water and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained
and it will try to spin or drain again.

If too much detergent was used:
- Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
- Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

F35 error = ANALOG PRESSURE SENSOR FAILURE
If this failure is displayed, there is any malfunction of the steamer component detected by the Steamer Electronic Board.

1. Check if pressure hose is fi xed correctly.
2. Check if the airtrap is not blocked.
3. Check if the hose is not blocked.

Hi Mike just read your posting.Error code 37 means you have the fault called PUMP BLOCK ERROR.There are 3 reasons this fault appears,they are ,the pump is jammed or blocked,the control module is faulty or the pressure switch tube is blocked.If you can before you buy it look under the machine and to the front right you should see a black fan.This is your pump.Try turning the fan to see if you can loosen it,The fan should turn freely.Then try a spin cycle and see if the machine drains and spins.Please reply if the machine still does not drain or if you have the new type of pump or for further help.Also if the machine does start to drain please reply on how you got on.Looking forward to your reply.
