FH error indicates that either you have no water coming into the washer, or very little water. Since you can see it filling, the error indicates low flow. A flow meter
in the unit detects if 10.5 gallons fills the tub within 8 minutes; yours must not be. This will turn off the inlet valves and the error code will be displayed. Check the following:

- Make sure you don't have a siphoning problem. This occurs when there is no air gap for the drain line at the standpipe. The standpipe is the drain pipe at the wall where the washer drain line is placed. With no air gap, a vacuum is created, and water will begin to drain from the wash tub prematurely. To prevent this from occurring, follow this advice:

•The standpipe should be 2 inches in diameter to allow a sufficient air gap between the top of the standpipe and the drain hose.
•The standpipe should be a minimum of 34" from the floor, and should not exceed 72 inches in height.
•DO NOT seal the top of the standpipe. Many consumers seal the standpipe in the belief that this will prevent overflows, or get rid of drain odors. This often creates more problems than solutions.
•DO NOT place the drain hose too far down into the pipe. Water stays in the drain trap area of the standpipe. If the end of the drain hose rests in this area, no air gap is created, and this can also cause siphoning. 4 to 6 inches is sufficient.
•The drain hose length must not exceed 10 feet in length. Excessive drain hose length can cause drain problems and back wash.
- Verify Drain Pump operation. Unplug the washer and take the lower panel under the door off by removing the three screws under the bottom edge. With the screws removed, the panel should drop down then come off. If it sticks, tap either side and it should come free. The pump is located directly under the wash tub in the front of the washer. Verify the electrical connections are good and that the pump is running. Open the pump access and remove, once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there's nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.

- Verify Flow meter operation and that the Pressure Switch hoses are intact and connected properly. Remove the three screws in the top panel along the back of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel should slide back, then, lift off. The flowmeter will be located on the left-hand side of the washer (facing from the front) between the inlet valve and dispenser. It's a small white plastic device with hoses attached. The pressure switch is located on the right-hand side of the washer in the rear. It is a round plastic device with electrical connections and a hose attached. There should be a tech sheet directly behind the panel or attached to one of the interior cabinet walls. Please refer to this sheet to learn how to perform diagnostics, how to locate the components mentioned, and the specific measurements required in determining if the components are good or bad.

"F/H" indicates that either you have no water coming into the washer, or very little water.

If you have NO water coming into the wash tub after 30 seconds the error code is displayed. Check the following:

- Inlet water valve may be clogged. Clean inlet screens if necessary.
- Make sure water taps are on.
- Check inlet hoses for kinks or clogs.

If you HAVE water filling the wash tub, and after 8 minutes, 10.5 gallons of water has been detected by the flowmeter, but there has not been a detected a Pressure Switch trip, the inlet valves are turned off and the error code is displayed. Check the following:

- Make sure you don't have a siphoning problem. Click the following link for instructions: http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning
- Verify Drain Pump operation.
- Verify Flowmeter operation.
- Verify the Pressure Switch hoses are intact and connected properly.

To access the Drain Pump - UNPLUG the washer and take the lower panel under the door off by removing the three screws under the bottom edge. HINT: Propping the front feet of the washer up can make access much easier. I use a couple small blocks of wood. With the screws removed, the panel should drop down then come off. If it sticks, tap either side and it should come free. The pump is located directly under the wash tub in the front of the washer. Verify the electrical connections are good and that the pump is running. If not, click on the following link to check the pump for obstructions:

To access the Flowmeter and Pressure Switch - remove the three screws in the top panel along the back of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel should slide back, then, lift off. Whin washing 30 min left and it stops and flashes FH

First try turning off the machine for 30 minutes. Then check your inlet valve. Shut off valve, switch off machine & see if the water comes full flow. Check the filters on the machine inlet entry, they could be blocked, clean out.

The FH indicates a fill failure and this is usually caused by a bad water valve, flow meter or pressure switch.

One key to determining the cause of the FH error is how fast the error comes up in a cycle. If the error appears within 1 or 2 minutes then the most likely cause will be the water valve or flow meter.

If the error doesn't appear for several minutes then the pressure switch can be the source of the problem.

Both water valves must be turned on and working. Even if a cold wash is selected at some point during the fill the hot water valve will be energized and if there is no water then the FH error will show up. Sometimes a consumer will turn the hot water valve off to save energy but you can't turn one valve off on this washer.

Inlet valves can be purchased thru the net and fitted by you easily.

F and H keep coming up on screen

The information provided is general. For information specific to your washer please resubmit the question, including the model number.

The "F" is at the beginning of all error codes. This indicates the a Fault has taken place. The second number or letter indicates what the Fault is.

FH : Is displayed when no water has been detected entering the washer.

If the control has turned on the fill valve and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water and not detected a pressure switch trip, the valve will be turned off and the failure code will flash in the display

Unplug the washer from its electrical source and wait for 30 seconds.
Replug the cord into the electrical source and try to start a normal cycle or a cancel drain cycle.
The machine should start the pump out mode and empty the water.

If, after 30 second, the machine has not detected water entering into the machine, the valves will be shut off and the failure code of FH will be displayed.

Check all hose connection and valves, both hot and cold, are turned on completely.
Verify that water is at the fill hose connections at the back of the washer.
The main control has sensed a component failure in the machine and will be needing a diagnostic visit for a possible repair or replacement.

FH SIGNAL MEANS ......... WHAT IS THE USE OF FH SIGNAL........ AND APPLICATIONS

The error code FH means no water is detected entering the machine which can be due to a faulty flow meter not registering the correct amount of water that has passed through it or the pressure is not tripping from the empty position to the full position when the correct water level has been reached. Your machine is definitely made by Whirlpool like other Kenmore and Maytag washing machine so they are basically the same and troubleshooting is then the same. The link below contains the detailed troubleshooting of this error code for a Whirlpool Duet and should be applicable to your machine.

Error Code FH on Whirlpool-made Front-Load Washers

FH appears

The FH error code on your Kenmore Elite washing machine is an indicator that there is a problem with incoming water. When there is little water coming into the machine, the FH code will appear and the washer will stop. There are a couple of common problems you can check while you are resetting the FH error code. You will need to remove the power supply to the washer to reset the code

Look for the "Pause/Cancel" button on the washer control panel. The button will be below the digital time clock and to the lower right of the wash cycle selector.

  • 2

Press the "Pause/Cancel" button twice to cancel the wash cycle. Unplug the Kenmore Elite washer from the wall outlet.

  • 3

Check for kinks in the water supply hose while the washer does not have power. Turn off the water supply spigots and remove the hoses from the back of the washer. Check the port screens at the hose connections for sediment buildup and clean as necessary.

  • 4

Connect the water supply hoses back to the washer and turn on the water spigots. Plug the washer cord back into the wall outlet.

  • 5

Select the wash cycle and press the "Start" button.

  • If the error code come back you will probably have to change the water inlet valves. No hard to do and you can fdo this yourself

Washer won't transition to wash cycle. Flashes FH error code.

take the lid off attached to the inlet valve to the dispenserr you will see a little white mechanisim in line with them. this is called your flowmeter take it off and blow through it is should sound like a cazoo. put it back on and try to do a wash cycle. if this doesn't help you need a new flowmeter. also if you take the kick panel off you will find the tech sheet to help you diagnose this problem.

A few seconds into a wash cycle the letters F H flash and beep and the cycle won't continue. what does this mean??

fh means fill hose make sure that water is comeing out of each hose by detaching from washer and filling a bucket. does water come out of hot and cold? check and make sure your fill valve washers are not clogged with sand. if neither of these things fix it I believe you have a bad flow meter. take the kick panel off by removing the 3 torque screws look to the right side you will see the tech sheet. read the fh error code. let me know how it goes. Do you have flood stop hoses if so get ride of them right away they cause a ton of problems with all washers.

F H code during cycle, will not complete cycle

The following link explains the "FH" error code:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

This is one of the more involved error codes to try to resolve, because it can have various causes. The first thing to try before troubleshooting is to unplug the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that it takes to correct momentary glitches. If the error code reappears, I suggest you begin with the easy items that you can eliminate first. Double check your fill hoses and water source, followed by verifying your drainage to ensure you don't have a siphoning problem and checking your drain pump for clogs.

If you still have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.
