First, Remove you battery, your AC adapter and any connected USB or SD cards from your computer. Hold down the power on key for 5 seconds. The put everything back together.
This most likely won't solve the problem but works occasionally.

If that didn't work you will need to create a restore usb key to fixthis error and you will loose any and all of your saved data from the laptop.

This is the only known solution I know to the black boot screen issue.

If you were running Windows on your mini follow these instructions
Download ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL27307/ob-68017-1/ImageCreator.msi

(Taken from HP support website for accuracy)
"CAUTION: The restore process reformats and completely erases the hard drive on the HP Mini. All the files you have created and any software installed on the device are permanently removed. The restore process reinstalls the original operating system, software, and drivers. Software, drivers, and updates not installed with the factory image must be reinstalled using Update Manager.

To download the files to another computer running Windows and restore your HP Mini, follow these steps:

1. Download and save ImageCreator.msi to the Windows computer.

2. Double-click on ImageCreator.msi and follow the on-screen instructions to install HP MIE Restore Image Creator.

3. Insert a USB flash drive (2 GB minimum) into a USB port on the Windows computer.

CAUTION: The restore process reformats and completely erases the USB flash drive. All the files on the USB flash drive are permanently removed.

4. Launch the HP MIE Restore Image Creator utility from the Start menu.

5. Select "Download HP Mini MIE recovery image", select the target USB flash drive, and click on Start to download the latest HP Mini recovery image from the HP web site. The recovery image will be downloaded and saved to the Windows computer and then written to the USB flash drive.

6. When the download and write process is complete, remove the USB flash drive.

7. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your HP Mini.

8. Change the boot order by turning on or restarting the device, and then pressing F9 while the "F9 = Change Boot Device Order" message is displayed on the screen.

9. Use the arrow keys to select the USB flash drive, and then press enter.

10. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the operating system and programs.

11. After the operating system and programs are installed, remove the USB flash drive.

NOTE: After the operating system and programs are installed, the device will automatically restart. You are then prompted to set up your HP Mini.

12. Restore your personal files and reinstall any updates not installed with the factory image using Update Manager.

13. You can uninstall the HP MIE Restore Image Creator utility from the Windows computer and delete the downloaded recovery image (the image must be deleted manually).

You mini should be back to a fresh operating system

If you were running Linux Download, ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL27307/ob-68020-1/liveusb-creator-ubuntu_0.3.3netbook0dennis5_all.deb

To download the files to another computer running Ubuntu Linux and restore your HP Mini, follow these steps:

2. Install liveusb-creator-ubuntu_0.3.3netbook0dennis5_all.deb on the Linux computer.

3. Insert a USB flash drive (2 GB minimum) into a USB port on the Linux computer.

CAUTION: The restore process reformats and completely erases the USB flash drive. All the files on the USB flash drive are permanently removed.

4. Open a terminal window and enter the following command: sudo liveusb-creator

5. Select "Download restore image" / "HP MIE Restore Image", select the Target Device, and click on Start to download the latest HP Mini recovery image from the HP web site. The recovery image will be downloaded and saved to the Linux computer and then written to the USB flash drive.

Almost all of the HPs Mini laptop screen issues are related to the internal video card/motherboard. hopefully you still have the laptop under warranty.

Blank as in black?
Do you have power?

Remove any usb devices and then try and start it.

if that doesn't work, disconnect the unit from power and remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds. Put in the battery and power up.

I have an HP Mini 110. I have turned off the

Try this: Remove Mini from A/C power; remove battery. Hold power button for 10 seconds; reinstall battery & A/C power. Try starting normally. Your netbook doesn't appear to have an external VGA port, or I would suggest trying to connect to an external monitor. Your monitor back-light may be burned out.

Hp mini screen is blank

Hello imlapd. If you don't even see words on the screen when you first turn it on (the BIOS puts things on the screen before it boots to Windows), then there are 2 possible causes. First, the video output or something else on the motherboard is bad. Second, the LCD display (the laptop screen) has failed. The cost to fix either one of these will be close to what the laptop cost brand new if not more. The good news is, if your HP Mini is less than a year old or you got an extended warranty, HP will fix it for free. You just have to call their customer service.

Hp mini wont start

i had a similar problem. this made my netbook start again. turn off your netbook and then remove the battery. then (with the battery still out) slide the power switch into the on-position and hold it there for a minute. then reinsert the battery and turn on your netbook. as soon as it turns on, keep repeatedly pressing the F10 key till you see your screen light up. then login normally and go to the hp site and download the driver for your netbook. i think its under BIOS? hope this helped. sorry if it didnt...
