Hello,

It sounds like you might have a driver missing for the External drive. I would first try installing the software driver before anything else. Download and install the driver and software from the manufacturer's web site.
Another thing to look at is if whether or not plug and play is disabled in the system Bio's. Course the easiest way to see if that is the case is to plug something else like a pen drive into the USB port and see if it is even working. It may also be that the USB port is not working or is disabled, or better yet your system has only a USB 1.0 port. In which the pen drive may work but it is not enough for the Ext. Hard Drive which requires USB 2.0.
But the remedy is to first try the drivers and software.

Take care.

My Toshiba px1394u-3g50 external hard drive is not working, light flashing and not recognised

Try connecting the hard drive to some other laptop and see if its getting recognized. Issue could be either with the hard drive itself of it could be with the usb port which you are using to connect the hard drive to your laptop.

Hi I own a Samsung G3 Station External Hard Drive 2T. It was working completly fine, however just recently its screwed up. I have tried using it on all my computers and laptops.. but for some reason...

Your external drive may not be coming up due to a defected usb adapter, this might also explain why your computer fails to recognize the device. Try getting a new adapter and see if that works

We have been using a 2 TB Samsung G3 Station External Hard Drive to connect to the TV through a laptop. One day it was working next day no power seems to be going through it. The light doesn't come on...

Assuming you don't hear any activity it might be the power supply that has died. Check if it's under any warrant.. if not you can always rescue the hard drive by taking it out of the enclosure and plugging it into your PC. Odds are it's a SATA drive. Either way.. taking it out of the enclosure will rule out of it's the hard drive or the components. Good luck.

Hd will not spin up, Green light blinks. Can I fix this issue

The simple way is to TEST the drive by removing it from the enclosure and trying it in a regular PC that has the same interface either SATA or IDE

If that fails to read the drive then the drive itself is probably dead.

Also double check you are using the cable that came with that drive as not all cables are the same on some of these things even though they look identical.

If you hear clicking at all this would indicate a dead or dying drive.

Sometimes the fix is simply removing it from the case and putting it back in.

I was able to use my Hitachi xl 1000 external hard drive on my computer and I wanted to be able to use it for my Macbook Pro as well but as soon as I used it for Time Machine Backup I wasn't able to use it...

If the MAC formats the external hard drive then the desktop cannot see any files on the hard disk even though it detects the external hard drive.
If you format the external hard drive using the Desktop computer and format it in FAT32 then the MAC can read and write to this hard drive and the desktop PC can also read and write to the external hard drive.
MAC computers can read and write on PC formatted disks but not the other way around.

Computer is not recognizing my external hard drive

If the light won't blink, there could be problem with the power source. Do scanning hardisk for errors manually ( take off the hardisk from the case, assemble it on other PC Desktop)
