Cyclic Redundancy Error comes when the source device like a computer calculates data and add the size of the information and sends it to the destination device. The destination device sees the size of the information and recalculate the size of the information and compare the two if they do not match the cyclic redundancy problem is reported because the information data has gone corrupt during the transit from the source to destination device. It can be a wrong configuration or packet collision. If it is due to packet collision the error can be over come by resending data multiple times.

Do you have the original installation disk that came with the computer? You can try to boot from that CD and do a repair installation. The Cyclic Redundance Check (CRC) error refers to the media the computer is trying to access (either the CD or the hard drive). Try booting into Safe Mode (reboot and press F8 repeatedly until you get a boot menu). From Safe Mode run a checkdisk (chkdsk from command line) on the hard drive to find and repair any found disk issues.

Hello. I am installing XP Service Pack 2 on my Desktop and during extraction the Cyclic Redundancy Check problem occurs. Could this be a hardware problem? AQny help will be appreciated. Thanks

The computer is having problem extracting the files from the service pack 2. The file may be corrupted if you are installing it from a CD. This is unlikely a hardware problem.
I suggest you install SP3, this is the latest service pack and it includes SP2.

I keep getting a "cyclic redundancy check error"

Hi,
It could be a few things that's wrong.
Check that the lens on the CD drive is clean and also make sure that the install disk is clean and free of scratches and then try to reinstall the game again.
There could also be some bad sectors on the drive your trying to install too, to check this right click on the C drive and select "properties", then select "tools" tab, in the tools option check the volume for errors.

Good luck

Take your time with the connections from phone to PC.
Use the recommended cable, it works better than Bluetooth.
