SOURCE: RM2652 runs a short while on gas then gas shuts off.

That was my same problem. I posted yesterday but I don't think I did it right! Anyway I had stated I thought it was the thermocouple and that's what it was. The millivolts while connected were down around 13.5 or so and that low of a voltage is not enough for the control board to verify there is a flame present. I replaced the thermocouple and it now reads 33.5 millivolts while the flame is on. So before you buy a new control board, make sure it's not something less expensive. I paid almost $40 for the replacement, but I am in a hurry to get this unit repaired. You can find them on-line for about half that.

SOURCE: Camper fridge dont cool

I also had the same Model Make. I removed my fridge and placed it upside down, occasionally shaking fridge within a 24 hr period. This seemed to re-mix the ammonia solution and the fridge is working.
This may work for you but look for yellow stains if you see any your fridge is leaking and would require repair.

SOURCE: I have a Dometic RV fridge that wont get cold. it

It sounds like your cooling unit is going out. Here's a couple of things to check. Do you smell any ammonia when you open either one of the doors? When you look at the rear of the fridge, do you see anything that looks like rusty water that has run down any of the metal tubes and dried up? If the answer to either one of these is "yes", then youll need to start looking for a new fridge or replace the cooling unit on the one that you have.

SOURCE: my dometic fridge will not turn on

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.

I have a domestic fridge model RM 46005 and I can't get it to work on gas

Gas fridges are rare these days in a domestic setting, so too are fridges that use kerosene.

I guess yours is a little more modern and probably a large example of a two-way or a three-way fridge. I don't have much experience of them and used them only rarely. In the basic form such a fridge had the minimum of controls and the operator was trusted to remember to disconnect one power source before starting to use another. When using gas it was simply a matter of switching on the supply and lighting the flame with a long taper or a match in a wire holder.

That wasn't very safe so in due course a safety thermocouple was added in a similar way to most gas appliances. The thermocouple bulb is heated by the flame and if the flame is blown out the bulb will cool and the gas supply is cut off. The addition of the thermocouple meant there had to be a button to press or knob to turn to allow gas to flow temporarily so the flame can be lit.
In time a piezo ignition would be added to make lighting easier.

The flame is small and so almost anything will stop it - fluff, webs, dust, soot and so maintenance and cleaning is necessary and thermocouples don't last forever and they sometimes fail and while not preventing the flame being lit while the button is held in, it will go out when it is released.

I suggest you ensure the gas supply is good and if so I think it is time the fridge was serviced.

I bought at Dometic propane/ electric fridge for my cabin last year. It has not run properly since. The fridge will light and run for a while with a blue flame but sometimes in the idle mode it goes out....

I have to ask, what is idle mode? I've never seen one that runs on idle mode, in a RV in 15 years. Has anyone used a manometer and tested Inches of water column in propane supply to fridge, as well as other appliances?
Any I've seen run on propane, are either on, (flame present, or off, no flame present.) Flame goes out completely when not calling for cool.

I have a mid 70's Dometic RM 211 refrigerator in my camper. The screen on the propane burner has been damaged and needs to be replaced. Parts no longer exist from Dometic. What size wire mesh do you...

Hi Brian,

You don't want to use a screen that is made to fit. The original part was designed for a specific flame. That being said, colaws rv salvage may have a replacement burner in stock, and you can also try calling up a company that rebuilds cooling units for rv fridges.

Dometic rv fridge runs fine on elec, lights on gas but in one min shuts down. Dometic RV S1621 fridge runs fine with elec, when start gas operation. The burner runs for about 30 seconds then shuts off....

It is key that all control switches are in the correct position, depending on what power source you are using, gas, electric, etc. If the switches are not in the proper setting, the unit will not operate.

Here's the manual for your fridge that should be printed out for your use and reference (and reading enjoyment). It has all the info needed to operate and troubleshoot it.

Typically, when using any gas appliance with a pilot light, the sensor has to first be hot enough to trigger it to allow the safety gas shutoff to open and allow the gas to flow to the pilot/burner. Follow the instructions and you should be all set.
