Try reinstalling your audio drivers, or use system restore to undo the update if yo are sure of that.
Reinstalling the proper drivers should generally fix it though.
In case you don't have them anymore, try the manufacturer's website or a driver finder program.

I recently reinstalled Windows Xp and I can't hear any sound from my computer. I have checked the volume and other features but there is still no sound.

You are missing an audio driver. Go to Toshibas support driver site and put your model number in the search box. when the windown for that model appears scroll down to drivers / software, look for the newest audio driver and just run it from there if it gives you that option. It will self install. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

HELP! Laptop will not boot up!

Try an XP repair:
Boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your Applications or data; it just reinstalls the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
