Hello,

Uninstall the printer driver and reinstall back after uninstalling, see if that fix the problem, if not, Disconnect the printer from the system. Now run a printer self-test(review manual) and check results. If no black output, its a printer problem. In most cases, inspect the innards for any possible massive leaks or clogs. you might need to tear apart the printer and test connections and such, but in many cases inspect the printhead wire harness is fully seated and properly aligned. A cracked wire harness of the flat ribbon is very possible.

Take care.

Black ink won't print even though the cartridge is

Hi,

It could be you just have a bad cartridge, If it's new, take it back and get a new one to make sure it's not the cartridge. If you get the new one and it still doesn't print black, then you have a bad print head. Meaning it would need to go to a service dealer to replace or repair the print head.

Thanks Mark

Canon ip3500 does not print black but colour ok ... whats up ... how to fix

1. this could be a clogged print head at the black cartridge. the head needs cleaning or the jets have clogged ports and cannot pass ink due to hardened ink.
This may require a print head replacement.
2.If you have recently place a new cartridge in the print slot check to see if you didn't leave the protective tape on the cartridge.

Black cartridge emptied half way through a four page email.changed cartridge. print appeared to be white...not black. did test print....ok. printed colour photo....ok. printed black and white...

did you try trouble shooting it? Also, make sure your printer header isn't clogged. Clean nozzles. This printer constantly needs maintenance with the channels. Keep them clean, and make sure the ink doesn't dry up. If you use cheap ink the ink tends to dry up fast.

Brother mfc 5840 won't print clearly

you need to check the maintainence kit and see if it's full. Also if it isn't, use some iso-proponal alcohol and some q-tips to clean the print section of the cartridge and the cartridge tray.

Canon MP360 not printing

You probably need a new purge assembly, it draws some ink to both clean and prime the printhead. When it stops working you won't get any ink to the paper.

My black ink will not print. If I change the colour, it prints find. It is a new cartridge.

First you need to ensure that this is not a driver problem, by reinstalling drivers and testing the printer on a different computer.

Also ensure that ink cartridges are OK, try replacement inks.

If the problem is not a software problem, and the printer is recognised by computer, and the printout is coming as a blank or faded page, then you usually have a faulty or clogged printhead.

Try first performing print head cleaning procedure from printer tools, that may not fix the problem, but do the cleaning a couple of times, just in case.

If the print head is clogged, that can be fixed soaking the print head in isopropyl alcohol overnight.

If still no luck, then the printhead must be replaced, here is the part: Canon MULTI-PASS F-80 Print Head $61.00

Will not print text only images

OK - here is all the help I can give to someone who won't respond to questions.

Are you confident the new cartridge is full and in-date? Can you confirm that the old cartridge was not removed until immediately before the new cartridge was installed. Did you remove the yellow tape from the new cartridge before you installed it? Was the black cartridge change properly completed such that an ink charging cycle occurred.

If you have already done lots of head cleans with no result, and you're sure you have a good ink cartridge properly installed, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back

Ink Cartridge

Some of Epson's cartridges went bad that way. It may be a bad cartridge. Get a new one, pull that one out and see what happens. If it works, call Epson for a refund. They had a class action suit for that type of thing, they lost and paid off. I would think they will help you right away.
