This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

When I try to replay my tapes there are thick, grey lines on the screen. Help!!!!!

This is one of a few things either one the formatting on your tapes and camera are diffrent which causes the thick gray lines because they are not compatable or two the tapes are bad and the either if there disks are laser burned or if they are tapes they are smudged either way try this buy some new tapes and go into your formatting settings and see if they match that which the tapes run on

If you're sure that the tapes are good (for example - plays normal in other cameras / players) then it should be a problem with the camera video head. You should give it to your local Sony service center, but I expect it will get expensive.
I work in a Sony service center.

Hope this helps somehow.

On replay black horizontal line

Hi!
Probably the video head has to be cleaned - you should give it to a local camera service center. I don't recommend using the cleaning tapes.

Hope this helps!

Bars across picture when replaying tapes.

The tapes were recorded in LP mode and the replay is set to SP mode. Switch from "EASY" to "P" and replay and you should be OK

I get 3 to 4 brown bands across the screen when replaying a tape

Hi,
I do not fully understand your question, but if you are talking about a tape camcorder, then I would suggest that you purchase a quality video head cleaner for that particular camera.
It does come as a cassette like the one you take your videos with.
That would be the cheapest "repair"; there are more causes of course.
Worse case: Faulty CCD sensor.

If it does cure your problems with the recorded tapes, is another question.
Good luck
