Question about Samsung SCX-4720FN All-In-One Laser Printer
It doesn't do it because the printer processor doesn't get any signal from the scanner sensor. First make sure that the light for the scanner works - if it doesn't then dismantle the scanner to access the carriage - check the CCFL tube and then the inverter that is powering it and fix what is broken.
If the light works then it's in the sensor - either the data cable is loose (reseat it) or the sensor itself has died. In that case you must send the unit to an authorised repair shop, they are the only ones with access to replacement parts.
