The LCD screen most likely has a backlight problem, this fault could be caused by a faulty inverter or a failty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions for a solution :-

Laptop won't start from on/off.

Yes probably low battery itself. Leave it on charge for an hour or so and then restart it. If it still doesn't solve the problem, then mention it in the comments here. Will try to resolve it.
Cheers.

Solution to the HP Purple Web Cam Issue

This document is located on HP's web site concerning purple tint on certain web-cams.

This document pertains to certain HP Notebook PCs with Windows 7.
When using an HP ENVY 15 notebook PC webcam in low light conditions, images on the webcam may have a purple tint. The ENVY 15 Series webcams include night vision technology that is designed to operate in normal lighting conditions and optimized to operate in low and zero light conditions. The webcam night vision feature includes two Infrared (IR) lights located on each side of the webcam and behind the display panel bezel.
Low to zero light conditions will cause the webcam IR lights to activate. The IR lights provide illumination for low and zero light conditions and help prevent fuzzy images that are typically associated with operating standard webcams in low and zero light conditions.
Turn off the webcam IR lights. While some degree of purple tint may be present under low light conditions, turning off the webcam IR lights will reduce and in certain cases eliminate the purple tint.
  1. Select Start > All Programs > HP > HP MediaSmart > HP MediaSmart Webcam .
  2. In HP MediaSmart Webcam, select Settings > Display > Advanced Settings , and then click the Camera Control tab.
  3. Select the Low Light Compensation check box, and then click Apply .
  4. Click OK .
NOTE:Disabling the webcam IR lights will cause display images to appear darker in low and zero light conditions.

The webcam IR lights are also available on other webcam programs.
Refer to the software Help for additional information.
This document will be updated if additional information becomes available.

My laptop works but when you turn the screen becomes black. To the light you can see it works.

It's a bit difficult to understand exactly what you mean, but as it's a laptop, I will assume the usual problem . . . .

Your screens backlight is not working, and that is most likely your inverter gone faulty.

The inverter converts the low 12 volt power inside the laptop, up into a much much higher amount of electricity that's need to power old styles of laptop screen/backlight.

Modern laptop screens (80% of the 15.6 inch types) no longer use an inverter circuit as they are illuminated by a row of low power white LED lights.

Have somebody check that your inverter is doing what it should, they are quite cheap to buy 2nd hand but yoyu will need 'exactly' the right one - it has to match the one inside your laptop screen.

Orange battery light comes on and the computer says low battery. Computer does not work even when plugged in to wall outlet. I don't think it is the adapter because blue ring on plug in to the com

Diagonizing and analysing this problem, it's obvious that the orange light means battery low.
Have u ever tried charging the laptop with another charger/adapter?
If no try it because some adapters/chargers don't work with some laptops. Also be careful to use the recommended adapter, some can spoil the laptop's panel.

I have IBM R50 Laptop, i install windows7 professional after installation i shutdown my laptop and keep it. After 2-3 hrs i open my laptop i got very very low brightness it is this much low that i am...

Hi,
The screen displays becomes dark/ dim if there is no back light.
There are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL (Cold Cathode Florescent Lamp), which is the back light and the second is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. These parts are inside the LCD screen. Either of the parts may be faulty or in some rare cases both. If you can see a faint image and the laptop turns on normally, then it is definitely the back light issue.
Rest assure that your system is ok and you can check it by connecting you laptop with some external display, which would work fine.

I SUGGEST THAT YOU SEEK PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE FROM AUTHORISED SERVICE/ REPAIR CENTER FOR REPLACEMENT OF INVERTER.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Will not power up. Green light on power source

Red battery light means battery is charging. It should start up even if battery is low. Try pressing on the area above and to the right of the power button, while you are pressing the actual power button.

Is it possible to fix my laptop webcam?

I don't know what the deal is with gateway's performance monitor, but the low frame rate is normal for web cams (and digital cameras in general) in low light situations. I would recommend just getting a cheapy desk lamp and forget about the night mode if possible.
