Question about Riso RZ220 Duplicator

1 Answer

I have a FR2910. When the tray lifts to start printing, the tray rises until it triggers the switch that stops it and says check paper tray area. The tray seems to not stop in time therefore triggering the check paper tray. The only way to get it back down is to push down on the roller while pushing the button to lower the tray. Each time it goes up it does the same thing and says check paper tray area.

Thank you. I have found a manual and am now much more familiar with the Riso. I do believe it must be the upper limit sensor. Sounds exactly like what is happening. Thanks for your help. I am going to see if I can order that part and exchange it. If you have any thoughts on me doing my own repairs I would love to hear.

I couldn't find this problem reported on the net, but I did come across an interesting blog about a sensor problem on a different model Riso- but since I suspect a sensor error here, it could be relavent:
http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/digital-duplicators/17418-riso-rz-220-a.html
It's either a gear or sensor issue, but I suspect a sensor.
I'm still trying to run down a service manual for you, but there is a different model manual on this site, and it's free, so it might help clue you in if it's close, or has similar sensors:
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/service_manual/datasheets_r_500.html
Of course, the gear mech in the tray assembly could be strung into a different configuration, and that would require a service manual to fix, and a lot of patience.
Here what one fellow said on copytechnet.com:
If anyone is having trouble with their riso I recomend buying one of the CD manuals sold on ebay, and then downloading a hard copy of the manual for their machine.

There are a bunch of test codes that are really helpful, but I wish Chilton's had a Riso manual

That's all I could run down, and I never worked on a Riso, so I can't offer any insight, but since this problem wasn't reported, it must be some tricky sensor or tray feed issue.
I found this link for a "technical manual" which might be useful to you:

Hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Will not reset Load Paper tray 1

The presence of the paper in the tray is detected by a small lever that, when paper is in there, is lifted and it triggers a small switch. In your case that switch is not triggered, either because the lever is damaged or the switch itself is faulty.
You will have to dismantle the printer to access the tray lever and check it and the switch then replace what is faulty. Parts can be ordered from your local dealer

There is a cable that runs from the scanner to the processor. Looking from the front, its on the left side of the machine, on the back, it is a fairly large connector.
Unscrew the two thumb screws, then unplug it and plug it back in with the machine ON.
It will force it into a reset and may boot.

The problem is caused by a software glitch .

Check the tray settings and ensure that paper size guides are set to the appropriate paper size, then power off/power on the machine.

Error c-0910

C-0910
The Lift-up Sensor is not blocked even after the lapse
of a given period of time after the lifting motion has
been started.

Basically your paper tray 2 did not lift right. Open the tray and make sure the paper is loaded correctly. The paper should be touched on all four sides by the tray or by adjustable guides. Open and close the front door with the tray out. Once the machine is ready to copy close the drawer you should hear a slight buzzing sound as the tray rises. If you don't or you hear a banging or grinding sound the tray lift motor may be damaged and you will need to call a service technician.
If the code keeps coming back pull out tray 2, open and close the front door to reset and leave the tray 2 partially pulled out until a technician can repair.

The print keeps giving me a message saying it is out of paper and won't print, the printer has plenty of paper

There is a "micro-switch" that should be triggered by the weight of paper, i.e., no paper in the tray triggers the switch, and the printer reports "tray empty".

So, either the paper is not correctly inserted, so that it does not touch the micro-switch, or the micro-switch is "jammed" into the "no paper" position.

Hp psc 1315 paper jam

Hi,

. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge inside the all-in-one printer to dissipate before putting your hands or any metal tools inside the chassis.

2.
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The 3 hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and print carriage or between the print carriage and output tray.

3.
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet jammed while still in the front area of the printer. If here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

4.
Pull the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a piece deeper inside the machine.

5.
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed-tray area and print carriage. Carefully remove the jammed paper.

6.
Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside the printer. You may need to remove the print carriage to get to the jam.

7.
Replace all parts and return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

Lexmark 642 printer on network will not print to tray three. When anything is sent to tray 3 it goes to tray 2 even though we set it up in our application to trigger $C(27)_?&15H?

I have found that if the print job needs a certain paper size and the tray is reporting a different size loaded into it then the job will pull from the next tray with an acceptable size. Lexmark's paper stops in the trays are easily moved by the wieght of paper loaded in it. If the job requires "Letter" checnk the size tabs on the left side of the tray, they are on the outside of the tray. For "Letter" just the buttom 2 tabs should be sticking out, adjust the green back stop until just the bottom 2 tabs are sticking out and try your print job again.
