SOURCE: where does the brown mute

unless you are going to connect to a cell phone, don't worry about the brown wire. unless the display is too bright at night, i wouldn't worry about the dimmer wire either.

I installed a Lutron LG 603 P. I have existin three way wiring. Previous light switch operated fine as a three way. The new dimmer comes with two red wires and a black. My wiring is white, black &...

The correct way to wire this switch is the wire that was on the gold or dark colored screw of the old three way switch is called the shunt or common terminal. The wire connected to this terminal is to be connected to the black wire of the three way dimmer. The other two wires are connected to the silver or light colored terminals of the switch. These are the traveler terminals. The traveler wires may be connect to either traveler terminal - it does not matter which.

If you have already disconnected the old switch, simply connect the dimmer wires to the house wires as shown top to bottom in each configuration below until you get it to work as expected:

Config1 Config2 Config3

B R R B R R B R R Dimmer Wires: B = Black R= Red R = Red
R W B B R W W R B House Wires: R = Red W= White B= Black

In two configurations or less, you'll have found the correct wiring for the switch. I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

My Bose Wave is doing fine except that the brightness of the display in the front goes dim and bright, sometimes flickering. Most of the time it is dim and not readable. I did change out the 9V battery...

Hi.

This is a common problem with this model.

The LCD has a dimmer circuit that can be responsible, in some case it is not the dimmer regulation, but the LCD control circuit itself. In that case you have no LCD backlight and the display is almost unreadable. If that is the problem, changing dimmer settings with procedure below will not help.

Most of the time the problem is dimmer regulation.

About dimmer regulation:

Try disconnecting the unit power cord for ten minutes and connect back.
Try holding down CD or CLOCK button and pressing at the same time the volume buttons. This procedures regulates Bose dimmers setting in a scale from one to 9. The dimmer has separate settings for medium and low brightness. Set both to 5 if you want to disable dimmer settings.

I have a pioneer super tuner3d it has a mute wire where does it hook up to

This is directly from the installation manual from pioneer website for model DEH-P6600

(Yellow/black
If you use a cellular telephone, connect it via the
Audio Mute lead on the cellular telephone. If not,
keep the Audio Mute lead free of any connections.)

Basically, you don't hook it up unles you have a cellular telephone in your vehicle, not a personal cell phone.

Display says 'phone' and only the clock works!

Hello easttnmomof3,

It may be that the "mute" lead on the head unit is shorting or grounding. Check the wiring and then reset the unit.

Hope this helps.

What color wires are what on this thing like i know yellow red and black but what are the speaker wires and rem etc.

Hello foxrider_911,

Orange is for illumination and connects to the "dimmer" wire on your vehicle wiring. Yellow/Black is the mute lead and connects to your bluetooth or hardwired audio mute function. Blue/White (terminated with a quick disconnect) is the remote wire and provides a 12V positive turn-on signal for a power antenna or remote amplifier. Speaker wiring follows the industry standard color code:
White - left front +
White/Black left front -
Gray - right front +
Gray/Black - right front -
Green - left rear +
Green/Black left rear -
Violet - right rear +
Violet/Black - right rear -

If you do not have a copy of the installation/user manual, you can download a copy from Crutchfield. It will have the complete wiring diagram and color codes as well as operating instructions.

Hope this helps.

I need to turn of mute function on my deh-p35oo

There is a telephone mute cable at the back of the unit which has probably come into contact with another wire. Take the unit out and make sure the telephone mute wire is insulated properly.

This happened to me today.

Wiring

The brown wire, according to the installation manual, is the "Mute Wire". Their instruction is:
"Connect to the terminal that is grounded when either the telephone rings or during conversation."

So this appears to only be necessary if you are also using a mobile phone with your system.

The orange/white wire is the "dimmer control" lead, which should be wired into the switch that turns your car lights on and off. This will probably allow your head unit to dim when you turn the car lights on (night time).

Hope this helps!

VRX755VD "triggered audio mute for cellular telephones"

Well, it sounds like you need a new output IC, which is what produces sound to the speakers.
