Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

I have the original battery that came with it and I've replaced the power cable but it still does not hold a charge without the plug in. What setting should the battery power be set on for a laptop.

Sounds that you may need to get a new battery specially if it has been about a year since you got it, though you can first check for BIOS updates which usually include fixes that can help battery performance and try to set the power management to Max battery. Hope those things help, otherwise, a new battery will be needed.

Many time I've charge the battery and it work but

Does the laptop work without the battery plugged in? (I.E with the power cable plugged in and no battery)
If so, you need to purchase a new battery. If not, you have issues with either your power adaptor or the laptop itself.

Gateway kav60 not charging. i have to wiggle the cord and sometimes it refuses to charge.

I guess you've got a broken laptop power dc jack or power cable.

Symptoms of a broken Laptop DC power jack:

- The laptop only operates when you hold the DC power plug in a certain direction (DC jack is broken or loose).
- The laptop only runs on battery power (no power is getting through the DC jack).
- The laptop gets no power at all.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently due to a loose or broken power jack.
- The laptop suddenly shuts off.
- The DC jack may feel loose.
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop when you insert the power plug into the DC jack.

Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is, try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.

PLEASE HELP!! I am going on a business trip tomorrow and ALL of my requisite files are on my Dell Latitude D610 that won't power on. PROBLEM: once I removed it from my docking station at work, it won't...

When you say you "tried turning it on with the battery removed", did you leave it plugged into the wall with the charging adapter at the time? Please clarify that you tried to use it while plugged in without the battery and it would not power up? When you plugged it in without the battery, was the green charging light on? Or did you get no power light at all?

With your battery in, try using a different outlet to plug into. Plug it into another outlet and when the green charging light comes on press and hold your power button on your keyboard and do not release it for 30 to 45 seconds. Tell me if this boots up the pc even if just for a moment?

There are three lights on your keyboard that should come on when the laptop is plugged in and turned on. One is the power light, the other is the battery charging light and the last one is the hard drive indicator that looks like a round cylinder on the picture. Tell me when you plug it into the outlet and the battery charge light is on, does the hard drive light come on and/or flicker when you try to power up the laptop? How many lights come on when you press and hold down the power button with the cord plugged into the wall?

I am unable to charge my notebook, something wrong with the outlet from the computer, the input

It might be, but we need some basic troubleshooting to determine if it is really the battery or the unit itself that has the problem. Turn off the device, then remove the cables and battery on the laptop. Press and hold the power button for 8 secs.Reinsert the cables only without the battery and turn on the device. Check if it is working fine on your system. If it is, then turn off the device and remove the cable. Then reinsert the battery w/o the cable and turn on the pc. If it wont turn on, then plug the power cable. If it is on then check if it is charging. If it is not charging then you need o replace the battery. If you plug the cable without the battery and does not turn on, then there is something wrong on the outlet or from the AC power cable or from the power port. That is the time you replace the cable.

Charging problem

I had this same problem, it's really irritating. Not exactly a full solution, but if you leave your phone connected to the usb for around 10 - 15 mins then disconnect it, remove and replace the battery and turn it on, it should have enough power to boot up, the just reinsert the usb and it should charge.

One thing could be that your A/C adapter has failed resulting in your battery not being charged. This would explain why you're experiencing the same symptoms w/ or w/out the A/C adapter.
