I have a Samsung DLP HL-P4663W that come on, but does not respond to the remote or the power button on the front of the set. I have to unplug the set to turn it off, I suspect the power supply.

Hi:
This is and indication of a bad color wheel assembly, you can replace the color wheel yourself, there are lots of Youtubes videos on how to do this.
If the white dot is on every picture and every input and stays there for a sec. after you press the power button to turn off the tv then suspect a stuck mirror in the DMD.
Bob I have seen the DMD on the light engine cause this
The DMD board is available through your local parts distributor You said you had sound so the analog board is working The digital board may also be suspect It is a lot more expensive than the DMD I would replace the lamp if it is over two years old just on principle Good luck
Can you turn the set back on with the remote control? If so then you need a DMD board, if the remote won't control the set then a main board is in order.
It seems to be an intermittent problem, sometimes it will come
