Goto the website http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
and download the selected firmware for the ipod touch model you have. if your unsure if the model / type you can goto http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/#
and type in the last 3 numbers of your serial number to find out

if you want to downgrade or upgrade, choose the firmware you want to downgrade to, then go to itunes and shift-click on restore and choose the firmware you want to change to. this will restore your ipod touch

Ipod touch 1 generation after restoring my ipod while starting it shows only apple sign and not starting its home ,it shows only apple sign and some processing symbol

The only thing that will save the iPod is to get it connected to your computer (iTunes) and perform a restore. Do a google search for "iPod Touch 1g restore"

My ipod mini 4gig has been corrupted. trying to restore but unfortunately it wont. it is just showing an apple icon and a triangle with a exclamation point. when connected to a computer it does not...

There are many iPod error icons with exclamation marks

The Sad iPod icon (93936_4.gif ) usually means that the iPod can't access it's Hard Drive. I've seen that hitting the ipod on a soft surface occasionally fixes this. You may need to take the iPod for repair

The Folder Error icon (93936_1.gif) may mean the battery is low, the ipod needs to be reset, restored or needs a service

The Battery Icon (93936_2.gif) usually means the battery needs charging

93936_3.gif means a disk scan failed and will be repeated when the ipod is turned on or reset.

Try restoring it continuouly until it does (eventually worked for mine)

if it is anything else, your iPod may need repair.

Good Luck!

The itouch wont turn on it will only show the symbol of the apple in the back ground but will not turn onto the main screan

This is a common issue with iTouch, Having this kind of problem means that the program in your device is corrupted.

You may need to contact Apple regarding this issue and have them upgrade the firmware of your iTouch. And that should fix the problem.

Thank you and good luck!

Apple 20gb ipod mp3 player wont turn on. only shows apple sign and says apple/support

This happens quite often but does not necessarily mean that your iPod needs service.

Launch itunes first, (not by plugging in ipod and allowing to launch automatically.)
Then, plug in ipod. After you see it load into itunes, you can use the ipod restore function. You'll lose your music but you it will restore all of it after it resets.

The screen of my Ipod Nano is frozen and shows only battery symbol. It wont get connected to the PC. And doesn't operate it's functions. And doesn't shut down.

Turn on hold, then turn it back off, then hold menu and the middle button down until the screen shows the apple symbol. Trust me, this happened to my old 3rd gen nano, found the soultion on apple's support pages somewhere.

File corrupted

Hello,i have been reading about your problem, and i have forund a reason why this has happened.... The reason why it is showing this message,is because you have not put the correct file types on the ipod, (eg.protected cds, blank mp3s,corrupt audio files,or a unsupported file type....)

Thanks for your question,

Apple Ipod 20gb re-set problem

My ipod did this. That symbol means corrupted files which probably means you need to format your ipod. Mine also continued to freeze which is caused by a slightly warped harddrive. Open it up by prying loose the edges w/ a guitar pick or butter knife, take a business card and fold it in half and place it between the HDD and the foam to add pressure to the HDD. Should fix your problem.
