For Danze Sheriton/Plymouth tub/shower faucet, I am finishing the wall with ceramic tile and have set plumbing so plastic guard face will be flush with finished tile. One drawing in the instructions shows...

Don't cover area where plastic guard should be. Make it flush. Some trim is designed to recess into the wall before it's flush. Screws, adapters, trim etc. all will need to be installed when tile is set. Make sure you have nipples extending out from shower head and spout area's as well. If you do this and think ahead a little, you will have fewer problems assembling trim.

I bought a maax shower base. i am going to intall a cement board on the wall, water proof it and then tile over it. The shower base has a flange that is 1/4'' thick. do i install the cement board on top of...

There are two ways that I would do it depending on the width of the ledge on top of shower base. If you have enouch room I would shim studs with strips of material thick enough to bring the surface out even with flange on shower base. Then I would put cement board(wonder board) on wall and over shower flange to set on top of shower base. Finish seams on wall board per manufacturers directions,Let seam filler dry then seal with thompsons water seal or equivalent sealer. Let that dry then tile on that grouting and sealing with quality caulk at joint between shower base and tile.
If ledge on shower base is not wide enough then I would place cement board directly to studs then use filler strips on face of shower base flange to bring two surfaces flush. Water seal let dry and tile again coming down over top of shower. Grout and caulk to finish. P.S. I would use a siliconized latex emulsifier to mix in with grout. It gives a better ware proof seal. Hope this helps you. Good luck and thank you.

Adjusting the scauld guard on a shower mixer valve

Uue a 1/8" allen wrench to remove handle to access the dial that set's the mixture of water.Remember or mark where it is and remove and reinsert counter clockwise about a 1/4 turn to start to you reach desired temperature setting. Be careful not to set it at a hot enough setting to burn you.
Once dial in place slide handle on and turn on to check water temperature.

Doesn't let any hot water through

You need to check the age of your water heater. If it is pretty old, it can be sloughing off debris that can get caught in the hot side of the faucet. You will need to turn the water off to the unit, remove the guts. While someone is turning the water on slowely, flush out the the valve. Take a flashlight and check for debris that is caught. I have spent a few hours digging out debris from water heaters before. After you have done this and your still not getting water, check the scald gaurd for the right temp. Typically these don't just "jump" out of adjustment on their own because they have a small retaining washer that holds them in place. I doubt it is the scald guard if everything was working just fine before. Plus, the bath faucet has the most flow than any other faucet in the house so this will be the first place that debris will usually travel. Good luck

Water Temp not hot in shower

you need an allen key to remove the handle once the handle is removed than you need to turn the grey plastic temp guide counter clockwise as far as possible
