Question about E-Machines Bestec ATX-300-12E Rev. D 300w E-Machine GTW Power Supply Part 100929 (ATX30012E) Power Supply

1 Answer

Gateway 500s power box when hitting test button powers both fans, but no power to hardrive, dvd, or monitor. I have replaced power supply, motherboard, and harddrive, I have nothing, but green power button light sas it has power and motherboard lights up, what else can I do? I have replaced the entire guts of this computer. Maybe powe supply not hooked right to hardware, not sure but don't know how this can happen for they all hook up in a series one way or another.

Does the fan on the power supply run? As you say the power on switch lights up and so does the motherboard, means that the power supply is working. Monitor gets power from the socket on the power supply. Try plugging it in the wall socket. Try to unplug the main power cord from power supply to the motherboard. The one that has a broad plug at the motherboard end. Replug it and they power on the PC.

Sounds like your power supply might be shot. New egg is a good site to get a new one.

My desktop computer will display anything when turned on, and the fan and hardrive both make a loud constant noise.

Maybe you need a larger power supply depending on if you might have added more hardware such as a graphics card, or an extra monitor to your system. This sometimes results in an inefficient supply of power, making your fan to your power supply work harder, thus making noise.

No power on

Start barebones and work your way up.
Unhook everything except the Power Supply, MB, CPU/with fan, Monitor, Power SW, and Keyboard (eg...no mouse, no hardrive, no cd-dvd....). If no post or no power it might be a bad power supply, MB, CPU, etc.....process of elimination.

My Gateway 500s monitor is stuck in power save mode

Try tapping the F8 key while booting the computer, you will get the start up menu, choose safe mode, when you log on, go to the display settings, that is right click on the desktop, properties, screen saver, advanced and make sure that hibernation is off, along with turn off disks or whatever , probably see turn off monitor after XX minutes, I make ours 15 minutes (150 computers and servers), I don't let the disks turn off. Choose always on also, not home/office. Try this and see if these settings help.

Need a replacement power supply cooling fan for a Gateway 500S Plus computer

Boa,

Depending on whether Gateway used a standard sized fan 40 / 80 or 120 mm fan you might be able to find one at most electronics stores for Somewhere between $2 - $8 USD.

However if it is a proprietary sized fan or if you don't feel comfortable digging around inside of the Power supply. (A power supply contain high voltage capacitors that CAN maintain a charge even once the power is removed) Then it might be more beneficial to you to replace the power supply itself. Most OEM (Manufacturer) power supplies are in the 250-400W range about minimum to run the equipment your PC comes with from the factory..... Now add in any Aftermarket products you install (ie..... High end Video cards, sound cards or additional drive(s) and you can see how easy it would be to exceed your Power Supplies limit) Proprietary fans could demand a premium price if they are a special order and if your not comfortable around High voltage devices, then a new PSU is alot cheaper than a hospital bill for an electrical shock.

Hope this helps you

My gateway 700 xl doesnt boot

Unplug the power from you 700xl and from you monitor. Try removing the cmos battery and reinstalling it. Then, plug everything back in and try restarting. If it continues to give you the yellow light, you may need to replace the CMOS battery, especially if it is more than two years old.

Another thing to consider is if your power supply is underpowered for the number of external devices you have plugged into it (i.e., cd, dvd, external hard drives, printers, pci cards, etc). Gateway installed very low powered power supplies in their 700xl desktop computers. Usually only around 250 watts maximum.

If you are replacing the power supply with another 250 watt maximum power supply, and you have a lot of external devices plugged in, you may need at least a 350 watt power supply....if your CMOS battery is not the problem.

When I hit power button on computer, power light doesn't come on...and the fan kicks on, but nothing else happens. nothing shows up on monitor except the test screen with 3 colors...the computer doesn't...

THis sounds like a power supply issue.. I had a similar issue with mine. my fan would kick on for about 2 seconds then shut off.
Hope that helps

Gateway FPD1975W black 19 inch LCD

most likely is the power supply in the monitor.
gateway LCD has a building power supply in the monitor. it supplies 38W to the lamp.
since there is no display, it tells me that there is no power to the monitor.
if try another monitor and it works fine. then the problem is the monitor. (dispaly lamp is good for 17 Years- according to the tech spec.) but the power supply is pushing too much power.
other vendors max power is apporximately 30W.

make sure there is nothing behind the monitor and has good air flow. Since there is no fan in the unit. it need to vent the hot air natually.
