Question about Square D 8910-dp32v14 Def Purpose Contactor 30amp 2pole
Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. The humming your hearing is the contacts on the contactor relay. They are floating contacts. Due to the fact that they float depending on the position they closed in you may or may not get a hum. Over time it may or may not snap out of it as the contacts get some use wear on them. Usually they do. Sometimes they never do. It is not a bad thing unless you notice the contactor heating up. Often by the time you notice the heat build up it is too late. The heat build up is cause from loose floating contacts. There are springs above the contacts that hold the contacts together when the contactor is energized.
If your really believe that your contact is making way too much noice I would go to the purchasing source for your contactor and discuss your concern. They may or may not replace your contactor. It is a judgement call on your part. I would at least try cycling it on and off several times and see if it snaps out of it. If it never does.... go see the purchasing source and have a conversation about what your contactor is doing.
Thanks for choosing FixYa.
