you know ive had all day to think about what i did when everything was connected and working and i believe the problem may be something to do with the viera link. When i applied the viera link and the message said launching or starting this when i believe i had problems.can i reset factory settings even though i cant see anything on the screen. What do you think.

there is no set up button on the remote,do you mean menu button, and all so when you say press square button 95% of the keys are square. Are you able to be more specific, mark.

" i tried to install a hdmi cable to a new amp" (sic) HDMI to an Amplifier? The HDMI Cable takes BOTH Video & Audio, therefore you would have to be able to split the signal in/to the Amp, to extract the Video & Audio, which then would have to go to the, Amp & Display. I don't think that Amps can do this. And when it's connected . it may stop any picture from being viewed.
HDMI, can only route to another HDMI, unit, and as said carries both audio & video, one cannot use it for either, must be both.
Now SOME HDMI ONLY support Video, NO Audio at all, in this case the audio, is used from the AV, jacks, the Red & White Stereo out put.
You can get devices that "Split" the signal, into audio & video, maybe that's what you need?

Before doing anything else, please leave the television set UNPLUGGED over night. Sometimes it may work!

If nothing appears on the screen, not even the OSD, then there was a static discharge when you plugged the HDMI cable to the amp and it has fried the image processor.
Sorry , this is unfixable, the mainboard will have to be replaced at great cost.

Yes, there is a slight possibility that the firmware has crashed if the amp you were trying to connect to did not support the AV Link fully (or was a different generation).
Yes, in that case you should reset the tv, but the only way i know involves the menu on the screen. You could try to do it blindly - on the remote press the following keys: Setup - that will open the OSD language selection, you need to select the English US one; If it's already there leave it like that , if not the press the down arrow 5 times (if it was set to English UK); press and hold for 3 seconds the square button; press left arrow; press square button. Now wait 30 seconds, if the tv doesn't shut down on its own you do it and restart it - the tv was reset to factory condition. If this hasn't fixed it then the fault is , as i suspected from the start, at a hardware level. Call a repairman, there's nothing more you can do.

Yes, Setup = Menu, and by square button i meant the button with a square on it, maybe labeled Enter or OK on your remote.

Same procedure with the buttons on the case
1 Press the MENU button till the Setup menu is launched, about 2 seconds.
2 Press the Volume  Down “–” button 6 times to select “OSD LANGUAGE”.
3 Press and hold the ENTER button till the SHIPPING menu is launched, about 2 seconds.
4 Press the Volume Up “+” or Down “–” button to select “YES”.
    5 Press the ENTER button.

We have connected our asus K52J lap top to our panasonic viera plasma TH-P50V20A via a HDMI cable . We have picture ON THE TV but sound from our lap top only. How do we get sound from our TV

Hi there
I've just looked at that TV model, and it appears that your TV does not support a separate audio connection for HDMI sockets. It also appears that your laptop model has a issue with sending audio via HDMI. Are you running Linux, or windows?
Hope this helps

Everytime I use hdmi the colours are mostly green

I have a panasonic th42pa 60a SD plasma and I get the same problem WHEN USING CERTAIN HDMI cables. I had a connexa brand with my samsung stb that i got with the TV and I had no problems., but i had to replace that because one of the ends "frayed" when it was accidently yanked out of the tv socket. A high quality monster cable did the same green screen you describe. The cheapest "Crest" from Big W that did HDMI standard 1b worked fine, but a Rank Arena from Target did not. So buy the cheapest HDMI 1b cable you can, the picture quality and sound is the same as the more expensive stuff. BTW I tried a HDMI 3 way splitter as well and it did the same green screen thing, but it worked on a later model panasonic plasma. I think it is Pana's poor HDMI implementation.

Sony Viao HDMI to Panasonic Plasma TV HDMI Input handshake

Try all of your HDMI inputs, one may be rated at the correct voltage to be able to display the video. The offical part that Panasonic was giving for this was PDPHDMIKIT, its basically a HDMI extender that regulates the voltage. The part is still available online, try partstore.com or andrews-electronics.

No picture in HDMI

After reading tips on this site I did a manual reboot of my cable box. Sure enough, that had been the problem. I'm going to keep a watch on it from now on; if it happens again, I'll call for a new DVR/cable box. Thanks for all the info on this site!

No sound from plasma to home theatre

First off it's always best to start from scratch when it comes to home audio. LoL. Many times I've been in this situation.
So with everything disconnected. You should have your HDMI, COMPONENT, RCA(R,W,Y)
HDMI and COMPONENT are the exact same thing and in all preference COMPONENT is far better thand HDMI for the pure fact that each wire is in it's own casing and insualted to avoid feedback from the other wires.
Anyways, with everything disconnected we begin
From you Cable/satellite box- Run your HDMI cable from you cable box to your HDMI 1 input on your tv.(If your speakers were to work on your tv you would automaticaly get sound and picture)
That should be all that you should be running from you cable box. Now that we have one thing running we go to the next thing.
From your TV run your audio out (RCA Red/White) to your amp. Usually your preference but more than likely your TV IN on your amp.
With your amp now set on TV, you should automatically get sound from your tv. and if your running an HD cable box even though your only running RED/WHITE to your amp, you will still be receiving Digital sound.
Most new amps Should have a digital input and if your running and 1080iUp this one RCA plugin will give you dolby digital sound from your dvd player to your amp. Then running a video rca up to your tv, will give you the picture, while the digital out on your dvd player to your amp will give you dolby digital sound.

It's a basic simple step to get sound. Like a continuing current. So just as long as you have your cable to -- tv -- home theatre. Everything should work. Otherwise I would go and check your cables and make sure they are not faulty.
I hope this confusing walkthrough helps.

No picture but sound on panasonic plasma

Unplug the TV and disconnect any HDMI cables to the set. If the issue goes away there is a possibility that your HDMI source is causing the problem. Anything on the HDMI can cause odd problems with the TV since the serial data and serail clock lines are routed on HDMI. Those are the 2 commmunication lines used throught the TV for operation so anything HDMI that might load down one of those can cause issues.

New TV - no picture at all

Try pressing input on your remote and make sure the source is selected to what you have it plagged in. For example cable box plugged into hdmi1 set input to hdmi 1. Also can you access tv setup at all? If not your tv might be bad to begin with.
