Where is the filter to clean in my dishwasher - Kenmore model 17532201? Do you know where I can find the manual for it? No, it's not anywhere in my house : )

Thanks - that was the manual. But I'm stil confused about the filter - at the base of what and is cleaning it necessary. I think any filter would need to be cleaned from time to time. The manual doesn't mention anything about it.

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. The pump filter in your dishwasher is ( in theory anyway ) self-cleaning. The pump well/sump does get quite dirty though and yes, can be difficult to remove. I find removing the top rack to be the best place to start. However I also find sometimes visual "how to" instructions are better than explanations, therefor I`ve attached a video for you to check out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRCCrEwrst8&NR=1 ( not sure if the "link" works sending via my iphone so you may have to copy & paste ) This should help you get to the pump filter, spray arm and check for food deposit, broken glass, undissolved detergent and general water deposit built up in the sump well. The key is to get in there and clean it all out, This will be applicable to most Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air. When you`re finished run it through a test cycle and see how it goes. You may even want to run it empty with just a bowl of "white vinegar" on the top rack for a dishwasher vinegar bath. Unfortunately I don't have a manual though. You could try "searspartsdirect.com" they may have one available for purchase. Let me know how you make out and what you find. Good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

Sorry, I did not realise you had responded a while ago.

Your dishwasher uses an intelligent cleaning method with a chopper to remove and flush the waste.

However, the filter is inside the wash assembly in the base. Best to check out this diagram of the pump and motor. The filter is attached to the chopper assembly which is item 6.

You will have to open the pump assembly to get to the chopper for cleaning.

So unless you are getting any problem this may not need to be touched.

Hope this helps with your query.

A washer or grommet is degrading... Start checking the easy stuff: hoses, arms, filters first but it may be anywhere inside the machine. Good luck. A call to manufacturer might give you some places that most commonly see this problem.

Where can I find an online trouble shooting guide or owners manual for my Kenmore dishwasher 36314489100? It will not drain.

Hi
You can download the manual from this link--
Kenmore dishwasher 36314489100 User Manual
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
