Question about Dacor ECS130 Epicure Electric Single Oven

2 Answers

Lower oven will not heat. Control panel looks like it will but nothing happens. I think I overheated it by forgetting to turn the broiler off and must have tripped a switch. We have had the problem before and a technician has come and set a reset button very simply (but for $125 or so!). Is there an easy way to do this? Thank you.

The advice received was NOT helpful. This is double oven Dacor model PCS2308. I is electric. The problem is with the lower oven not heating up. This has happened before when I accidentally overheated it by not turning broiler off soon enough. The tech who came to fix it said it's a very simple fix, but we can't figure it out. Thank you.

I've now taken off the panels that the door switch comes through on both top and bottom ovens. I have found no red switch in either. On top, there is a black "box" in the middle with empty space on either side. Perhaps this is a different model than you're referring to? It's a 10-year-old double oven. Model PCS2308. Thanks.

To reset the oven, turn off the electric oven and push the high temperature override button. This will reset the tripped switch.

To get access to the override button.... Find the compartment where the mechanical mechanism for the upper door latch is located. Take out some screws from the door latch and remove the control panel. Inside it.. on the left of the door latch mechanism is a red button. That is the high temperature overide button.

Remember to turn off first the oven before pushing the button.

If you wanted to have a more accessible button, just wired on that button and place it somewhere safe and more accessible.

Hope that solves your problem
Please give this solution a four thumbs up rating if this fix your problem.
Thank you for using fixya.

Maytag Oven. The bake do not heat, the broil is ok. what is the problem ?

Look at the wiring diagram... The manual reset Thermal Limiter Switch (part number 74008715), located on the lower rear insulation retainer can keep both elements from working, not one at a time... I would inspect the back of the bake relay for a burnt/failing solder joint. Swapping the BAKE and BROIL leads is an acceptable test, but if you put the bake leads on the broil and still get no heat: check the control relay. If the broil leads will not heat the bake element, you have a bad element or bad connection. Be sure to do all testing of the elements with at least one wire detached so as not to red a back circuit.

Broiler turns to pre heatworks oven doesnt heat when temp

the broil element
is the heating element that is found at the top of the oven and produces a very high heat for broiling. If the broil element isn't working, you should first do a visual inspection for signs that the element has blistered or separated. If the element appears normal then you can check for continuity with a multi-meter. Remove power from the appliance before performing this test. Remove the back panel and locate the terminals for the broil element and inspect the terminals and wires for signs of overheating or damage.

If there is no continuity then the element will need to be replaced. If the wires are damaged then they will need to be repaired. If the element is ok then you will need to check the broil circuit to determine the cause. This involves live voltage checks and should only be performed by qualified persons. Components to check include fuses, if the range is equipped, and oven control thermostat or electronic control.

All the lights and buttons work/sound on control panel. Broiler oven works but baking element not working. Replaced baking element with new, but still doesn't work. Convection fan works, light works,...

Manufacture and model would be nice ohm out the bake element might be open some are in the oven cavity others are hidden below the lower oven plate and have to check from the rear by removing back cover in the bake mode the broil element element cycles on/off thats why you have some heat.

GE wall oven gas model # JGRS14 won't heat past 100 and I don't see any flames

if you can see the ignitor glowing on either the broiler or the lower area of the oven then the gas valve is bad and not opening anymore, sometimes the ignitors are the culprit as they are in series with the gas valve and if weak wont let the valve open, but both upper and lower burners not operating i would suspect a gas valve first

Ov en will not heat up. no broiler heat or bake heat model number 790.96614407

Hi,

Your symptoms point to a failure in the electronic oven control board (that acts as the thermostat for the oven in this type of range). Unplug the range and remove the upper back panel to access this component. You will likely see to burn marks on the control board. The control board will need to be replaced in this situation.

Before installing the control board, I recommend that you check the bake and broil elements. Look for damage on both elements. Remove the lower back panel (with the range still unplugged ) and check the wiring connections on both elements. A damaged or shorted bake or broil element could have caused the problem with the control board.

Hope this helps.

My oven keeps beeping F2 and it won't turn off. The top broiler coils are bright red and heat is pouring out of the oven. I have held down the off button, pushed start, pushed bake, anything I can think...

Control senses oven temperature above 615F-630F. shut down the breaker switch asap.

If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition occurred: Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature.

Broiler won't turn off. Error code F-3

The broiler won't turn off even when you press the "Off/cancel" button? It sounds like the broiler control relay is stuck shut. The F3 code means the oven temperature sensor has failed, this probably happened because the oven got too hot when the broiler was stuck on. There is fail-safe thermal fuse that will blow if the oven gets too hot, so the oven won't melt down but you should leave the unit off so you don't blow the fuse.

To fix the relay, you will have to replace the oven control module. I think this is about $200 and not too hard to replace if you are somewhat handy. The temperature sensor is also serviceable, you can find parts at Appliance Parts Pros on the web. Hopefully you haven't thrown the range out yet, let me know if you need further assistance.
