I have a remstar pro M series machine for sleep apnea. The air pressure setting is too high, when I was tested a larger CPAP mask was used and I think they set the pressure at the same level on my machine which uses the smaller comfort cushions ratjher than an actual mask to distribute the air. Does anyone know how I can adjust the pressure without going through my physician or respiratory therapist? I would like to able to do this myself.

At this point, it may be a good idea to have a professional heathcare assistant adjust the pressure to the mask. If they set the pressure too high for the current mask you are now using, then they should come back and adjust the pressure to the correct PSI.

Air flow from cpap machine too warm to breathe.why is this happening and smells like old socks

Finding the right mask and air pressure settings are critical to successful CPAP treatment for sleep apnea. Also important is regular use of this therapy; with consistent application, continuous positive airway pressure, or CPAP, can lead to positive results as soon as the first night of application.
The trick to CPAP success relies upon compliance. CPAP compliance is defined as using your therapy a minimum of 4 hours a night, at least 5 nights a week.

Ask your doctor for a "sleep study". They will hook her up with electrodes and monitor breathing, heart rate and state of sleep. The next night, they will give her a "cpap" or sleep apnea mask and test again. She may need one. Google sleep apnea and answer the quiz to see if she is likely to have sleep apnea.

I went to my doctor to complain about my snoring and he said he thinks I may have OSAS. What exactly is that?

OSAS stands for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. This is a condition where you stop breathing during sleep for more than 10 seconds, more than 5 times an hour. Snoring can sometimes be an indication of OSAS which is potentially dangerous, so it's important that your doctor follows up with some tests.

How do you know which CPAP snoring masks are best for you?

FOR ME I HAD TO HAVE A SLEEP STUDY DONE. IT IS A 2 DAY PROCESS. THEY HOOK UP ALL SORTS OF PROBS ON YOU AND MONITOR YOUR BREATHING. THE TEST WILL SHOW HOW MANY TIMES YOU STOP BREATHING. THEN YOU GO IN ON ANOTHER DAY AND THEY TRY DIFFERENT MASK DURING THE STUDY. ONCE YOU GET ACCUSTOM TO IT THEY MONITOR YOUR SLEEP AGAIN. THIS TIME, IF IT WORKS, YOU SLEEP THE REST OF THE NIGHT. FOR ME IT WAS WORTH IT.

What is CPAP? I know it's something to do with sleeping and snoring.

CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. It involves wearing a pressurized mask over your face while you sleep at night to help force air through the airways.

CPAP is used to treat sleep apnea and heavy snoring but the machine is very noisy and it's not comfortable to sleep with, so it's worth trying other solutions before turning to CPAP for help.

I have a REMstar pro CPAP machine that is making a high pitch chirping noise, very obnoxious. It's not the mask, hose or chamber. It seems to be coming from inside the unit itself. M

This will happen when a large, continuous air leak has beendetected in the circuit. Check the circuit connection for any leak. Youalso need to check the tubing. If it disconnected, then reconnect the tubingand press the Pressure on / off button to restart the airflow. If the airflowdoes not restart, the REMstar Pro may not be operating correctly. You need tocontact with tech person. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.
