it divides screen in middle. you can still see picture but only darker.

Hi,
I need bit more detail about dark and cloudy screen at right side.
Does this change in screen start from center part instantly like it divides screen in two sections or screen gets darker gradually?

OK, two possibilities for that symptoms.
Either T-Con board is defective and causing problem or lcd panel itself got bad and need to be replaced.
T-Con board is located at top center of lcd panel if you see it from rear and board will be covered under metal shield. Local tv repairman will help you to replace that board as it needs expertise and skills.
If lcd panel is defective then it would be costly fix like approx 80% of new tv price.

6 red flashes- backlight issue, bad main board, or power board or inverter boards- check standby volts on power board. "backlight on" volts should be 3-5v from main logic board then 24v to inverter

Better is to look first also on bad leaking or bulged capacitors thats better to replace in the bad components to get a repair because active components died on bad capacitors but after a while because on the build-in protection circuit by faults like deformed or leaking capacitors and even several fuse resistors then after replace a complete board again after a while you will may be get the same kind of problems again, take If you find some or much bad capacitors replacements 10 volts dc higher . begin with control on the power supply first of all.

The tv goes dark on one side sony 46

Had same issue with kdl 46xbr5 (service manual lists this model and your model in the same manual).

I loosened and retightened all of the ground screws until I found the one that caused the problem. I also reseated all of the cable connectors (with the unit off) before I did that as well. Found a few connectors were loose and at least 3-5 ground screws were not tight. works just perfectly now.

You have a bad Panel, but here is the good news. Sony will cover this until Oct 31, 2012. What you will need to do is check your TV into service. You might have to pay a deposit, but you will get it back. The servicer will then contact Sony and then Sont will contact you to make arrangements on getting you a new TV, because they are no longer replacing this panel. Congrats, you are getting a new TV.

I also have a 2 yr old Sony KDL32xbr4 that now has multi-colored vertical lines on the screen. I contacted Sony and they say they have "no known issue" of this sort for this model. I find this rather puzzling since I have found numerous postings on the web. They told me to try the factory reset. Whatever. Might as well have said "don't buy a Sony". 2 years! $1300 for a tv and it lasts 2 years! Makes me sick to my stomach.

I have a sony Bravia KDL-52W3000 LCD tv. Approx.

I have the same tv with the same problem. My tv is about 3 1/2 years old. I took it to the shop yesterday and today they told me that I had a bad lcd panel and a bad FL1 circuit board. They also told me it was going to be $3800.00 dollars to fix. I am now on my way to buy another tv, needless to say it will not be a Sony. Sony knows about this problem and refuse to do anything about it. Good luck.
