Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

When I bought my mastercraft framing nailer i didn't have any immediate need for it but it was a good price so i bought it anyway. I have no idea how long that was but i need it now to build my shed. Seems I have misplaced the owners manual which , most likely also has the original sales receipt. I mention this because the tool has a 3 year warranty but i can't prove when i bought it. The problem is that after i fired up the compressor, oiled the tool and shot a practice nail which fired perfectly into the scrap wood i have been unable toget a second nail to fire. Great buy! One freakin nail for my $100. without a manual and an exploded view i don't know where to begin with the fix. Can anyone out there describe what my problem is? this is essentially a brand new nailer

Remove air line and nails, push driver up to top with a long screwdriver or any tool that fits.hold back feeder a bit to allow for dry firing and continue doing this untill driver is free enough to work on its own. You man need to replace some orings because they swell over time (oring on driver too tight). If driver does not feel too tight in cylinder then check valve bad. Check valve is a bond or oring in the cylinder covering a ring of holes. Good luck and post again if you have more questions.

I just had the same problem. Someone said to spray penetrating oil on this driver, which I did. I also talked to my charprenter brother and he said to turn up the air compressor to 110psi, which I did ,l it now fires like a charm.

Mastercraft brad nailer model 57-7900-2 5/8" - 2"

No experience of Mastercraft brad nailers but if fires with out depressing nose tool is dangerous and should be returned to manufacturer. Dewalt make battery powered brad guns and recently produced a battery framing nailer. I would not say that other nail guns are exactly cheap if they are beware they may not be up to the pressures excerted on the whilst firing.

Mastercraft framing nailer

Most likely a bad head valve o-ring or seal where the head valve seals to the cylinder. Could be a few other things too like a worn head casting but not near as common. I have no idea where you would get parts for it.

Common problems dewalt clipped head framing nailer

there is NO easy solution for this, but unplug air and get a pair of safety glasses and a punch and try and knock the driver up into the tool away from the nail or if it is just jammed try and pull the nail out. You didn't really specify where the problem is. Let me know if you need more assistance.

NR90AE Nails jammed how to remove

New user will jam the gun/ nails because gun was most likely not bump fired. Placing the gun then depressing trigger will usually cause double fire in the hands of new user. New user should practice on scrap lumber bump firing at many angles till they get the idea; or give them a training period with a nailer that has a single shot trigger (they may develop bad habits with single shot however).

The framing nailer first started not firing all the time and when it did - the nail didn't go all the way in. Now - even though we installed a new cell and fully charged battery - i does nothing. ...

ive found that sometimes where the batt is inserted into the gun theres two contacts down there wit a rubber pads the contacts rest against. check and see with a flash lite if one of the rubber pads has pulled away and wraped itself around the contact, if so pull it out with needle nose pliers or what ever works.if not the problem make sure your batt is good some will read 6 volts but will have no or week current. worst case repAIR SHOP.

Ems1@mymts.netWhere do I get o-ring kits for my mastercraft Roofing and Framing nailers?

I would first try calling any power tool repair companies in your local area. i find that a lot of these parts are interchangable across brands. they may have something you can use locally.

if not, you need to contact

to locate repair facilities.

good luck.

Howdy, I've taken apart my paslode framing nailer. the fan works fine. sparks fine. all good, but when re-assembled it fires only occasionally. Any ideas ? Much appreciated.

Hi,

Here is a tip that I wrote about the Paslode nailers and the problems that can come up with them.

I also have a link to the Paslode manuals which contain Paslode cleaning and troubleshooting guides.

If you need parts for your Paslode, there also is a link for a site that sells the Paslode nailer parts.

Your nailer uses a very common and lowest price nail when using bright nails. Other varieties are expensive, stainless, twisted, galvanized, so if you are a big user not a problem. I on the other-hand do not use very many nails in a years time. A case of nails will last couple of years. A box of stainless or galvanized will be an expensive proposition. Because of the weight of case of nails, shipping is very expensive unless you find speicals. At www.toolbarn.com , you will get free shipping for orders of $200 (less than 70lbs). Best bet is to find local dealers, and right now because of the economy, special pricing. Look for deals on broken cases of nails. I usually find broken/open cases of nails at Lowes for half price. Buy what ever you come accross that is a good price because nails have a long shelf life if you can keep them dry. Good holiday
