How do I check how many hours are left on my Mitsubishi XC480U lamp

Bulbs do not really have a certain lamp life they only have a lamp timer. You will want to be sure you can get a replacement lamp they can go anytime between 0 and 6000 hours.

i actually own this tv myself... that striking you here will only occur when the lamp does not fire. as far as lamp life i have found that mitsubishi has the longest lasting bulbs from my experience. i would check to make sure the connector on the lamp is seated properly into the other connector in the tv. if you know your lamp is 100% i would look at replacing the lamp ballast. ive had this tv for a few yrs now and love it.

If the lamp is in great shape it doesn't matter its just a timer for our benefit.

Try to check the lamp if already faulty replace same type of lamp and be sure to reset lamp hour meter after replacing lamp good day and best regards.

You don't, Lamp Hours are a statistical estimate used by the manufacturer to give an idea of how long a buyer can expect the lamp to last. In some cases lamps last longer or shorter, but an average of most of them will be around the estimate. You as a user can keep track of how many hours the lamp was used and think about replacing it when that statistical average is close, but that usually is too much trouble.

go to your menu find lamp setting/ lamp reset.

How to reset the operation time meter
Plug in the power cord, switch on the projector, and
reset lamp time by pressing the (left and right arrow) and POWER buttons on the control panel simultaneously.
Important:
• If the 3 buttons was not pressed at the same time,
the lamp time may not be reset.
• Please confirm the TEMP indicator illuminates
about 2 seconds and the lamp time has been
reset.
• The projector will not turn on if you do not secure
the lamp lid.
• You must reset the operation time meter after you
replace the lamp.
• Do not reset the operation time meter unless the
lamp has been replaced.

The resetting is not done in the menu.

Plug in your power cable - Machine is now in standby mode.

Then Hold down the left and right arrow keys on the Projector and press the power button. You'll see a indicator light on top of the Projector flashing twice - Lamp hours is now reset.

i believe you hit the up and down arrow and the enter button on the projector itself and hold hem in for few seconds and it will display lamp usage.
