Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

My dryer makes a humming noise when dryer is not in use. At first I thought is sounded like a "cooling fan" or something. Thought it was just after a load was done, but now it seems to come on and off at random times.Even when laundry is not being done. What could this be?

It is likely the transformer / power supply for the electronic controls. Some noise is normal over time, but it could be an indication that the power supply is beginning to fail.

If you are within warranty, it would be best to call your retailer / service center. Otherwise, contact the local service center and ask them if they have had experience with similar sounds.

Why do I have a strange whirring noise occasionally from my laptop. A sort of buzzing sound. Goes off after about 30 secs but comes back in a few minutes.

Could be either the cooling fan or even your hard drive. I have had hard drives make this noise when they are just about to crash.

Laptop making a high humming noise that comes and goes

It sounds as if your hard drive is starting to go, either that or your cooling fan. These would be the only two things I can think of that would cause a "humming" sound. I'm also guessing hard drive due to the fact that the drive spins until the program is loaded into your RAM then lets the RAM take over so it gets quiet again. Just a thought, it doesn't cost anything to open the bottom and listen closely. Good luck!

2006 f 150 4x4 hub noise front. I notice a noise coming from the front. I thought it was the tires whichj are new but it could be something else. Sounds like a hum but not sure. This hum can be felt when...

They now have a bearing assembly, you replace the unit as one. The humming sounds like a Blazer I did last week. Same noise/humming over 25MPH..? Sounds just like road/tire noise. Hope this helps.

Dryer makes rumbling sound when starting

If you remove the front cover and access the blower fan and see if it is still tight on the shaft. if it isn't it makes a rumble sound when started due to vibrating and after a while it makes more noise as it goes. Now I removed the fan and placed a shim in the flat area and matched the flat area of the shaft and replace it back on the shaft and it should solve it.

Tv makes humming noise when on. how can I eliminate or reduce the nose?

Some of the larger TV's are DISH ready, meaning that they have the tuner inside for SAT TV. The SAT tuners often have an internal fan that makes a humming noise. If it sounds like something other than that, you might have a bad component in your sound circuit that allows 60 HZ hum through the speakers.

If it is a rear projection LCG TV it has a fan in it to cool the bulb. You will hear the fan if you listen closely. It usually cannot be heard over the volume.

The fluorescent bulb and electronics inside make humming sound naturally. Kinda like when you turn on a lamp, and some lamps make a low humming sound.

I am wondering if this sound might be your color wheel spinning. The color wheel often makes a low humming noise as it spins. Try checking to see if this is not the source of your noise. You need the color wheel to generate the colors needed to turn the B&W picture generated by the DLP into a color picture.

Thank you,
