I have had the monitor plugged into my HP laptop. Suddenly, it showed a "Power Saving Mode" message on a blank screen. I have gone through my troubleshooting guide. The screen now shows my background wallpaper, but no program icons appear. When I move and icon from my laptop screen over to the monitor, it won't open the program on the monitor. Please help! Why would it work before and all of a sudden do this? Thanks so much, I appreciate any help you can provide. Chris Marino

Depending on which version of windows you have the directions may be slightly different but in the display settings check to see if it is set to extend the display or to duplicate the display both do very different things. Hopefully adjusting this will correct your issue.

SOURCE: just bought HDMI to DVI

Hi

Desktop PCs automatically seek an external monitor to output graphics to. Laptops default settings send the image to the internal monitor. You need to manually instruct the laptop to export the image to an external monitor.

With the cable connected and the monitor powered up, try pressing the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) on the laptop and simultaneously pressing the function key at the top ofthe keyboard with an image of 2 monitors (often F5 or F6) to sent d the image to the external screen.

I hope this helps.

Monitor automatically clicks into power saving mode

Laptops often have a function key which switches from laptop only, external monitor only, laptop & external. One of the top number keys, along with the function (fn for short) must be pressed simultaneously to step through these.

Where these keys are at, may differ from laptop to laptop.

My HP W1907 monitor works fine until I try to play The Sims 3 game. I play for several minutes or hours and the monitor shows the message that it is going to sleep and the light on the monitor goes...

Hi there. I had the same problem months ago when I try to play high end games like Sims 3 my monitor goes into power saving mode. I tried to check every possible causes of the problem. It could be that your computer is overheating try to clean your computer and check if your fans still works. Second it could me your power supply malfunctioning, maybe it does not meet the required power to make your game work. Last cause is your video card malfunctioning, what I did is to just buy a new video card and it works.
If you do not have spare power supply or video card you can go to a computer repair shop for them to check the possible problem that causes it to go into power saving mode. It can also save you money before you can buy a new one.
Hope this helps, Have a good day!

When opened, the HP TFT7600 displays "PC entering power saving mode" and the screen goes blank.

disconnect all the cables except the power cable and then turn the monitor on you would see a test screen if it still happens your monitor is faulty and better buy a new one as repairing is usually expensive .
also check you warrenty its usually 3 years

LG LCD Monitor L1530S problems

Most screens will show nothing or go to power saving mode until the PC is turned on. The monitors need a signal in order to be 'active'.
From your description it could just as well be a problem with the PC rather than the monitor. The easiest way to find out is to connect another PC or laptop to the screen or connect another monitor to the PC unit.

Did you try pressing the Del key or F2 key when you turn on the unit to get into the Bios?

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

* Off entirely.
* Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
* Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
* On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

Hope this helps.
