Question about Dryers

Open Question

My whirlpool dryer model number LER5636PQ0 suddenly stopped working. Push to start button does not do anything. I know it's not the outlet since I plugged in another dryer and that one works fine. In what order should I troubleshoot for problems and how do I do these?

SOURCE: My Dryer will only work if I hold start button, when I release start button the dryer stops.

Anra, this is a classic symptom of a failed even heat board. I've seen a lot of these failures out there. Easy to change out. Check out this link. Catriver..post back http://www.repairclinic.com/0080.asp

SOURCE: Whirlpool LER5644EQ2 Electric Dryer that won't start

Regarding model LER5644EQ2, here is a link to a parts website complete with an assembly drawing and parts list. In all probability, you have a blown thermal fuse and that will need replacing http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php
Item #23 on the drawing .. a quick test would be to ( with power removed or disabled) measure the resistance across the two terminals and it should not be an open circuit or it is blown. The drawing shows exactly where it is and the parts list shows the item number/ cost and where to buy a replacement. Hope this helps..

Regarding model number is YLEQ5000PW1, you may have the same problem with your thermal fuse.. the parts website does not show a detailed darwing of your model but it should be similar to the other one I've cited in the location and thermal fuse.. The link I am sending is for the parts list for your washer and the thermal fuse.. http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

Let me know if that isn't the problem and we can look at other ways to zero in on a solution..
Hope this helps...
Regards...

I PUSH THE START BUTTON AND HEAR A BUZZING NOISE THEM STOP

t is very important that you give all the details possible, such as what the dryer is doing, what you have tried, approximate age, and most importantly, the model number dryers the model number will be located inside the door jam. On some dryers the model number will be located on the back of the back-splash at the top. You shouldn't have to pull the dryer out to see the model number.

My whirlpool dryer start when you press the start button - but as soon as you stop pussing the start button the machine stop and does not continue on it self.

Hi,

This problem is most commonly due to the motor. The motor has an internal switch called a centrifugal switch that senses when the motor is up to speed.

The second cause could be the start relay (this is present on some but not all models), this is part of the start button you push and is less expensive than the motor, it can be checked with an ohm meter to determine which component is faulty.

If you can send me your model number I can pull up the wiring diagram to determine which type of start component is on your Whirlpool. The model number can be found on the tag just inside the door

My GGQ 9800 gas dryer won't start. It was working

Hi,
Things to check first on a no start dryer.
Check for power at outlet.
Inspect power cord.
When you try to turn it on do you hear anything?
Check the door switch(does it click when pressed in?)
The next item to check and most likely replace on a completely dead dryer with power and a good door switch would be the thermal fuse located inside the cabinet.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else

Whirlpool dryer LER5636PQ0 push to start keeps failing to work

You could have a worn door switch . Push in on the plastic piece which closing the door actuates and press the start botton . If it starts ,several times , then replace the door switch . Pt # 3406107 . Do this after you put the 2 thermal fuse (slim white piece with 2 wires attached )wires togather for testing purposes only . BE sure to unplug dryer before doing ANY repair testing first ! If it starts by jumping the wires , then pt # 3392519 fot thermal fuse .
