Question about Electrolux UltraLux 2000 Bagged Canister Vacuum

2 Answers

How do I gain access to the motor of an Electrolux 2000 canister vacuum. The air intake on the motor must be partially blocked as there is a loss of suction and the motor makes that high pitched whine like it does when you cover the hose with your hand

Dismantling the vacuum probably won't help much, and reassembling can be a bear.
To check the intake, remove bag and look into bottom of bag well. It there's a filter there, remove it and check intake at bottom of bag well. Clear if there is.
The afterfilter on a canister is located beneath the air diffuser grid on the top of the machine where the tools can be attached. Remove this cover and there should be a white filter. Yours is probably black, or at least real dirty, if it's never been changed. This also blocks the airflow, reducing suction, and potentially damaging the motor. Extremely dirty filters are an indicator of how much dust is getting into and through the motor. This is usually caused by using generic bags rather than the genuine Electrolux, now Aerus, bags.
It is also an indicator of another internal problem on some other Aerus and pre-Aerus Electrolux vacuums.

Also, the high pitched "whine" could be the little flap on the filter bag when you replace it. Remove the flap, re-install the bag and see what happens. It could be just that simple.

No suction from canister on electrolux guardian model c154e. green light on switch is on

Have you remove the hose and checked the suction at the intake of the vacuum? If the motor is running there will be suction.
If there's suction here, attach the hose to the vacuum, turn it on, and check the end of the hose for suction. If there is none or very little, there's a clog or bad leak in the hose. The easiest way to check for a clog is to drop a coin in one end, lift that end up allowing the coin to drop through to the other end and out. If it drops through, the hose is clear. If not, the easiest way to clear it is to plug the hose in to the exhaust port of the vacuum, place the other end into a large garbage bag or point it outside, and turn on the vacuum. This will usually clear a blockage.
Leaks that are severe enough to result in no suction will be readily apparent as tears, cracks, or cuts in the hose. A crushed hose will also result in the loss of suction.
If suction is fine at the end of the hose, do a visual check of the wands. It's unusual for them to be blocked, but not impossible.
Check the power nozzle above and behind the brush and where it attaches to the wand. The elbow can catch long objects resulting in a blockage.
If there don't appear to be any problems with the above mentioned items, you need to take the vacuum, with attachments, to a repair shop to have it checked. It may need a new motor, but that would be due to worn out or broken fans, and that is unlikely with Electrolux vacuum motors years older than that.

How do you open the back of the canister to get the fan and motor out

You can't take the back off. You have to separate the top and the bottom of the canister. The screws are on the bottom. Once the machine is apart, all interior components are easily accessible. Be careful when you re-assemble it not to pinch any of the wires that run along the side.

Electrolux 2100 vac dies when you attach hose even with new bag.

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.

Electrolux vacuum cleaner 1500W motor diagram neededbecause it is not sucking enough

if motor is turning than it's not the motor......check for other more than likely faults such as.......restricted or kinked hoses......obstructed hoses,......clogged vents both intake and output sides.......clogged heppa filters on the output side...after the motor if it has one......restricted or obstructed intake air vents where the motor sucks air in........clogged bags if it uses bags.....in any case, you have something either blocking or restricting the suction side or something restricting the air output side.........if all is well and you see no blockages, then and only then should you suspect the motor.

No power to vacuum motor. Switch need to replace.

See my response to "posted by bigbadben on Oct 07, 2007".

The cover that I referred to in my answer is a small plastic plate that covers the 'live' electrical bayonets between the electrical cord rewind spool and the motor. I did not make this clear in my first response. Before you start disconnecting any wires take a digital photo and/or draw yourself a electrical diagram. Save yourself a lot of time come reassembly.
