I think that you have it inserted or threaded wrong, read your manual more closely. If, you don't have one go to brother-usa.com and download one for free.

Bobbin stuck on bobbin winder spindle

you might have to use some force but not enough to break
the bobbin winder spindle. it's also possible that there is something
wrong with the bobbin for it to get stuck on the bobbin winder spindle
like that.

The bobbin is not moving

try checking to make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into
the bobbin case
make sure the bobbin is not inserted into the bobbin case backwards
if the bobbin is not in backwards and the bobbin is inserted correctly
then the hook and hook race should be checked by a repair
shop to see if they are damaged

The bobbin won't move, is there a certain way it should be placed in it's case

Yes, when you pull the bobbin thread out of the bobbin case, the bobbin should move/circle counter clockwise in the bobbin case. But also sometimes the bobbin may not be the perfect size for the bobbin case, take a good look! Or if your bobbin thread is too full in your bobbin this may cause won't move. In this case, take some of the thread out. Another thing is try to loosening the screw of the bobbin case. This need to be done in extra careful and slow. Since you don't really want to let the screw out of the bobbin case, because its a little bit delicate when it's happen. Hope it will work soon! Good Luck.

Bobbin thread is pulling to the top, using embroidery needle, bobbin thread and proper thread on the top. As far as I know the machine is set right. This might not be the right place to ask, but am...

Setting bobbin case tension:
Put wound bobbin in bobbin case. Thread it in case. Hold the thread and carefully let go of the case only holding bobbin thread. The case should NOT move. Quickly let your hand drop 2-3 inches to let the bobbin case free fall for 2-3 inches, the bobbin case should move slightly then stop. It moves because it let’s a little thread off the bobbin. It should then stop .5"- 2" of thread should release. If so, your bobbin case tension is right. If it’s right then begin to look at your top thread tension. Always Always start with a properly adjusted bobbin case, then adjust your top tension accordingly.

My zig zag stitch is distorted on the top side but looks perfect on the underside. I have tried adjusting the tensions and rethreaded the machine, etc.

The bobbin tension sounds too loose. This will help if you have a bobbin case and not a drop in bobbin. Let me know if you have a drop in bobbin:
