How did you lose admin privileges, really to give them back to yourself,

Restart the computer as soon as it comes on start tapping the f8 key untill it gives you the option to run in safe mode,

Click on admin, then go to start, Control Panel Users and modify it so you have them again

I'm trying to install a program and my computer keeps telling me I don't have administrator privileges?

That happens when you are running a user account that is not the administrator account. In many ways this is smart because trojans and viruses have the same trouble installing. In schools or office buildings where they want to control who installs what on the computers it makes less problems for an administrator to fix. In your case switch users and log into your administrator account in control panel see if you can give your usual user account administrator privileges, shut down administrator account and log into your usual account and see if it now has administrator privileges in the control panel/user accounts. If not then install software while logged in the administrator account but install for all users from now on. Or you can only use the administrator account and set it up the way you like it (like your regular user account)

Cisco vpn disconnection through sonicwall firewall

This may sounds obvious but have you forwarded the correct ports through sonicwall for your VPN?
If you have, do you have any QoS running, it could be worth checking that VPN has priority over VoIP etc.
Do you get disconnects all the time or is it only during busy periods? You may be overloading your server, perhaps it's time for more RAM.

Drive medic starts but hangs with please wait message when trying to recover inaccessible disk

It is due to administrative privilege issue. Make sure you have the administrator privilege when you run the software. Else, while trying to scan the inaccessibe files user access control will prevent the software from scanning those files which can cause the scan to get stuck.

Inability to load personal profile

Make sure Windows has been activated. If so, try to create another profile with Admin privileges. Is the computer infected with a virus. Some viruses, spyware or malware will deny access to your profile. Have a professional Computer tech try to scan for viruses.

Hello, I have the Dell Latitude D610. All of my apps; you name it are gone. When turning on the PC it takes a lil longer to load into WINDOWSXP. All I have on my desktop is the recycle Bin :(....I've tried...

It sounds like the computer is booting into the administrator account, which also maybe safe mode.. When the computer boots up and is stable (give it a few minutes) go online and go to the following site and downoad the shown program. It is called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tool. Download, run and update this tool. Perform a quick scan and when the scan finishes, click on the "show results" button, then delete every infection it finds. When it is done, reboot the system.

Dell E310 Dimension that won't go on!

Boot the computer into safe mode. Run full-system anti-virus scans to ensure that the system is virus free and to remove any infections that may be present. Reboot system.

Instructions for booting into safe mode:
1) Start system
2) As system is starting, press F8 key
3) Boot menu will come up asking how you want to boot - choose Safe Mode and press ENTER
4) Your computer will start with limited services, no internet connection, etc. This will allow you to check the system and scan for viruses without interference from non-essential services.

Let us know how it turns out.

Hope this helps. Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Computer

Well, your problem seems to be due to a virus attack. Certain virus disable your task manager. To solve this, scan your computer with a good antivirus software and remove the virus. But in most cases you won't be able to restore the task manager with the antivirus application. So the best method is to backup your documents on the the drive where OS is installed and reinstall your OS.

.msc applications not opening

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Probable reasons are:
  • you are logged in without administrator privileges;
  • antivirus and/or anti-malware is preventing;
  • virus infected;
  • services disabled.
Solutions:
  • reboot and log in as Administrator or give your username administrator privileges;
  • temporarily disable antivirus and/or anti-malware;
  • scan, clean;
  • enable, in Services tab of msconfig in Start/Run
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
