Refrigerator is warm and will not cool food and the freezer is iced up

Theres the problem an iced up freezer, the cold for the food compartment comes via a fan in the freezer, no flow, no cold, firstly defrost it completely, check fans are working, if they are ok then it's probably your defrost hester element.

Can I remove the freezer compartment from my Haier HSE12WNAWW?

not possible to remove the freezer
the most likely [problem is that the seals around the freezer door are not sealing properly
that allows the atmosphere into the freezer and the humidity then freezes and turns to ice , causing the problem
adjust the door and change that door seal
when defrosting the freezer, remove all the frozen food, and place a fan at the open door
atmospheric temp air will defrost a badly iced freezer in around 1 hour with the use of the fan on high speed

Ice sheets build up on the bottom of the freezer. Water also seems to be dripping into the refrigerator from the freezer. Not sure what the problem is and looking for help!

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
First off if you have an ice maker this sheeting of ice is most often caused by the ice maker inlet water valve bypassing water when it supposed to be shut off. You can check for ice in the rubber tube that fills the ice maker. If it is frozen hard with ice most likely you have an inlet water valve failure. The valve is not repairable. The only remedy is to replace it.

Second reason for ice build up on the bottom of the freezer is a clogged evaporator drain. If you see ice for sure under the evaporator coils then the drain is clogged. You clear the drain by unplugging the unit.. removing the freezer contents and directing an external fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. While this is happening... open the back of the unit by removing the fiberboard cover and cleaning out both the drip pan and the END of the compartment drain tube. I use a wet or dry Vacuum for this task. When the 2 hours of manual defrosting is completed.. use the exhaust of the vacuum on the very end of the compartment drain tube. This will float out any debris that was in the evaporator drain funnel and make sure that the compartment drain tube is clear. Make sure to clean the condenser coils and fan in the bottom of the unit while your cleaning the drip pan.

After all of the above reassemble the rear fiberboard cover, wipe up any water mess in the freezer compartment and return the unit to normal use.

Since you did not include a model number I am unable to provide you with an exact reference source for the inlet water valve. You can however use the following sites and enter your model number for parts information:

Water is leaking from top part of freezer down to bottom of inside of the frig. Frost is on the top of the frig in the frigerator.

FIRST STEP: UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR. AFTER IT'S UNPLUGGED, DO THE FOLLOWING:

Remove the food from the freezer compartment and place inside the refrigerator temporarily.

Remove the bottom panel and back panel from inside the freezer compartment. You will probably notice that the bottom of the inside of the freezer is covered in ice. Use hot water (not boiling) from the tap and pour it on to the ice that is formed on the inside of the freezer compartment to melt the ice.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN TO MELT THE ICE AS IT WILL MELT THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT. ALSO DO NOT CHOP AT THE ICE WITH A SHARP INSTRUMENT OF ANY KIND AS THIS WILL PUNCTURE AND DESTROY THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER.

If you have a wet vac, you can remove the melted water using the wet vac. Or you can use a towel to mop up the excess water. You will still have to pour hot water onto the ice until all of the ice in the freezer is melted. Patience is key as it takes time to defrost all of this ice.

You will see a drain hole in the back of the freezer compartment that is still clogged with ice. You will need to continue to apply hot water until the ice has completely melted.

Note: When the ice in the drain breaks free, you will see all of the water disappear as it empties out.
In Whirlpool refrigerators, the water runs to a tray underneath the refrigerator. You will hear the water empty out into that tray. Then you will know that you have completely cleared the ice from the drain pipe in the freezer. To double-check this, take a small cup of warm water and dump it into the drain hole and you will see it visibly disappear and run into that tray underneath the refrigerator.

Replace the freezer panels back into the freezer compartment and plug it back in and return your freezer items back in to the freezer and you should be all set.

Refrig not cooling

Either the fan that blows cold air from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment is burned out or the door/flap that seperates the compartments is stuck or the linkage connecting it to the fresh food temperature dial is stuck or broken.

The evaporator coils are in the freezer compartment and air is blown from the freezer compartment to cool the fresh food compartment. For some reason, air is not moving to fresh food compartment.

If the fan is running, it could be something as simple as Ice blocking to door between the freezer and fresh food compartment. I know modern refrigerators are self-defrosting, but that's only the evaporator coils, which are defrosted by a timer and a heater.

Ice can form on passageways inside the refrigerator, like the exit of the ice maker and in this case, on the door and 'tunnel' between the freezer and fresh food compartment. It's free, and doesn't take a lot of time, so try completely defrosting the unit before doing anything else.

BE SURE to keep the doors open, as odors can form as particles of food are allowed to defrost that may have been frozen in an ice pack for months or even years. Clean the interior of the refrigerator while you have everything out and reset the controls to normal settings.

If this doesn't help, there may be a mechanical problem with the air transfer control flap/door that will need to be fixed.

Hope this helps.

Wont make ice

More likely a frozen water line in the freezer compartment. Thaw out the freezer completely - then it should work after cooling down again.

Leaking frost-free Zanussi fridge-freezer

Has this thing a separate frezer and cooler compartment.
Have tried to completely defrost and clean that thing.
At times like in airco's the pinch valve for the cooling process to effect (expansion) is stuck frozen, or very seldom broke.
