If a portable doesn't recognize the battery, then here are some steps to try:

  1. Reseat the battery (Ensure the contacts are not corroded or broken)
  2. Try a known good battery is one is available (Battery life in a portable averages about 30 months, if battery is older then the battery may be dead)
  3. Replace the battery of a known good is not available
  4. Replace the motherboard (Charging circuit failure)

Battery not recognised/not charging

Turn the computer off, unplug it, take the battery out. Then hold the power button down for 10 - 15 seconds. Plug the ac adapter back in, but do not put the battery in yet. Boot the computer, then shut it back down. Put the battery back in then boot it again. It should recognize the system now.

I removed the battery and now the car won't start

'I disconnected the car battery/changed the car battery and now my car won't start'

Another common question on Fixya.
You've done nothing wrong. It's simply that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key.

Put the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on. Press the LOCK button twice on your remote. Wait 1 minute.

Turn the ignition off and press the UNLOCK button on the remote a couple of times. This will disarm the immobiliser.

The key should be recognised and your vehicle will start.

New battery not recognised

Some aftermarket batteries don't work well. The connections aren't correct, the pin-outs are wrong. Your best bet would be return it. Try to get the Manufacturer of your Laptop's genuine replacement, they will cost more, but it will be less of a pain in the long run. Some aftermarket,Chinese counterfeits, MAY be dangerious as well. Fire hazzard.

The camera will not recognise any sd card from 16meg upwards. Formatting the card makes no difference.... always comes up with ... this card cannot be used! Please help!!

I'm assuming you're formatting the card in the camera and not in the computer. Try this...remove the card and battery...press all the buttons....leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

New battery will not fully charge

Hi, I have three possible answers!

A.
You're computer may not be capable of charging the full 12 cells. (Its only supposed to have 6). So you will only be able to use half the cells. In this case there is nothing you can do apart from just enjoy the 6 recognised cells.

B.
You computer has not fully recognised the 12 cells so you may need to install drivers from the HP website. Or alternately if you know how to and or have the original windows install disks. Then you can re-install windows and it will probably recognise the new battery properly.

!WARNING THIS WILL ERASE DATA - YOU NEED TO BACK UP YOUR STUFF!

C.
The third option is that the battery is duff, take it back to where you brought it and tell then the problem, they mey be able to help you or give you another battery.

Battery

That means that it has not recognised the new hardware yet, you need a skilled person to have it recognise or the battery is not compatible to your machine - need to buy a correct battery.
