Question about Dell STUDIO 1735 Motherboard - H274K

2 Answers

Studio1735 Just looses power, no errors it just dies sometimes within 60 seconds of power up but no specific time window. Processors are running at 38-42 degrees C. i have tried it with and without battery installed and with and without external power no difference. I have cleaned and replaced all of the heat sink compound, ran 3 different virus cleaners, ad-aware, avg, avira. It was running okay in safe mode with NW for over 24 hours, but then yesterday died after only 10 min in safe mode. Believe I must have a motherboard problem. System has been upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, but that was not a recent upgrade.

I performed a RAM check that yielded no errors and I'm not inclined to go buy new RAM until I have exhausted all of my other options. I will give the check disk a try asap. I don't follow the logic of how this could cause a hard power failure if the disk has bad sectors though. Please explain the logic. thanks tom

It may not be a motherboard problem, You can do a few steps to check your computer:
Shut down the computer and then
Press the Fn key + The power button to turn on the computer it will take you to dell diagnostics that checks all your hardware component once the quick diagnostics is over go into the advance diagnostics to see what is wrong, if you find a error code you will come to know what to replace.
If nothing is wrong then press F2 on boot go into system setup (BIOS) leave it on for some time if the computer shuts down there then it can be a motherboard failure if it doesnot then it is not a hardware failure.
Do a system repair 2 - 3 times nad see if it helps
else do a Operating system reinstall.

  • When you start your computer bios checks all hardware before booting so if your harddisk has any errors the booting process failure so it create power on problem.

I want to copy new pages and it's stuck with one, repeats it all the time

I'd start with a hard reset. Unplug the printer or copier for 30 seconds. Press the power button for a few seconds to empty all power sometime within those 30 seconds. *** Update: Please include within the the comment section what the model is, at least include the type of printer you have. These specifics are essential for diagnosis. Thanks.

do you have a make and model of the vehicle? does it blow fuses.I would say that the A/C is aftermarket and interfering with the electronics on the vehicle shutting it down. maybe try connecting the compressor to a different power outlet and see what happens..

Change the air filter as well as the fuel filter, and have the fuel pressure checked. it could be a bad fuel pump as well as the fuel pressure regulator.

The first thing that must be done here is to have the computer tested for fault codes with a scanner.

Engine was running fine and all of a sudden it started running slower until it died. It sounds like it is starving for fuel. Replaced the in line in-tank fuel filter with no effect. After it dies I will...

Check your fuel cap....try running your machine with the cap loose or off...you may have a clogged fuel tank vent... also check all the fuel lines to the carburetor to be sure none of them have degraded or have air leaks....also check your muffler to be sure it is not clogged ...hope this helps...;-D

vista is causing the error. its a sucky op sys. have you considered downgrading, or perhaps putting ubuntu in as a second op sys from within windows? i would say that probably vista has the wrong drivers loaded for god knows how many of your devices. could be video, or video and card reader, and cam. if it works fine in xp, than at least you know your hardware and your card and cam are ok. you could honestly spend a week or a minute trying to find a reason why vista does freaky things but the reality is that its just unstable, clunky and a poor, poor excuse for an op sys. 80 percent of people who have vista dump it within the first 90 days of owning the pc or laptop.

Changed oil pressure switch, still no oil pressure

The fuel pump on that model runs through the oil pressure switch so that if the truck looses oil pressure,It kills power to the fuel pump to prevent engine damage.you need to find the cause of the low oil pressure reading(possibly a bad oil switch). That would be the cheapest place to start,or have it checked with a mechanical gauge.Good luck,

Wrong time

This is a problem with either the a/c power or the Clock/Radio's internal timing crystal circuitry. The radio depends on the 60 cycle power source as the timing device. If this power is irregular or uneven in its delivery it can cause the timing circuits to lose or gain time. The Clock/Radio has a frequency tuned crystal that operates like the second hand on a clock. When the calibration for whatever reason is lost the crystal will not be able to perform the timing function correctly. The reason this does not happen in all Clock/Radios is that they usually have correction circuits. These circuits keep the crystal from drifting out of calibration during operation. Because of the low production cost of these Clock/Radios, the quality control is almost non existent. The components are variable and sometimes they do not stay within specifications. This problem is usually handled by quality control departments in the manufacturers facilities. They usually test a certain amount of the production run to make sure it meets specification. In higher priced electronics these test are on going during the production run. In lower cost electronics these tests for quality control are usually done before the production run. This is to choose the best and most reliable components for the price level of the product in production. What this means to you, is that the quality of the components and quality control of the production runs are based on cost efficiency to the manufacturer. This is the reason for these type of efficiency variables in the products. The customer support telephone number for Emerson is 1-800-898-9020 between the hours of 9am-5pm CT. Give them the make and model number of the Clock/Radio and ask them for assistance with your problem. I hope this information helps you under the problem and reason these problems can occur in the products.
