Question about Philips Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

I have two questions on the Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD Recorder. 1. What is the remote code to punch into my Dish remote? I tried the scan but could not pick it up. 2. What is the output channel for the DVD Recorder. I have coax running into the DVD recorder and then it runs to the TV. Yet I cannot pick it up. Do I need to use RCA plugs. I see there is an output for such. Thank You Josh

I will try the RCA jacks and the Funai code when I get home this evening. I believe I have some extra cables with those jacks stashed somewhere.
Thanks, I'll let you know how it works.

How old is your remote? The available codes programmed into the remote are for products that were on the market for at least 6 months before the remote was built. Newer codes can't be added except for the programmable remotes. However, I've found these codes for Magnovox DVD units 626, 661 and the following for Philips 640, 641, 766 with DISH remotes.

You need either composite or component video cables (or S-video cable depending on the TV). Composite video uses 3 RCA jacks (1 yellow for video, red/white for audio); component video cables have three jacks just for the video and a separate 2 jack cable for the audio. S-video is very similar to the Composite video. The coax out is a pass through. It lets the TV signal (from the satellite receiver or OTA) go to the TV tuner. The dvd picture will be be best on component video.

I hope this helps.

(the composite video is labeled Video Out, the component video is labeled Component video out; both are just a bit left of the Coax digital audio out (near the center of the unit))

This DVD recorder is the same as the Funai model with the same number. It may be worth trying the Funai code 658.

    Good luck.

You're welcome. I hope the Funai code works. Those were the codes based on my remote which is an older model. Apparently Dish has many that they list on their site. I just looked at the codes for a 21.0 IR/UHF Pro and it had several codes for Funai DVD recorders. You may want to look for additional codes by selecting your remote from the list here: http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental... . The link for the codes is on the upper left below the Troubleshooting dropdown menu.

Trying to connect Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD/Recorder to Sanyo HDTV. TV is connected to Dish network through coax. cable.

Unfortunately, the Magnavox MWR10D6 recorder can not record HD signals. It's only video inputs are coax (RF) and composite video; both are limited to 480i (SD). NTSC (analog signals) are translated to video.

Your best recording option is to connect the composite video output of the Dish receiver to the video input (yellow for video, red and white for audio) of the recorder. Then set the receiver to the channel that you want to record and set the recorder to Line In.

HD recorders may exist. They are much more expensive than the SD versions.

I wish that I had better news for you. The manual for the MWR10D6 is available from Funai here: http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/MWR10D6.pdf .

How do i program a dish network remote to my vcr

Hello, i hope that this has gotten resolved already, but if not, or you have more questions, here are some steps.

1. Hold down the clear AUX button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the VCR on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

Can i record from one dvd to another magnavox player recorder MWR 10D6 i wish to record from a DVD player to recorder i can record from the TV Email jimbrit1930@yahoo.com

Sure you can... connect a cable from the Output jacks of your DVD player and attach it to the Input jacks of your Magnavox the same way you connected the TV. You'll need to use your remote on the Magnavox to change the Input it records from so it conforms with where you plugged the cable into.

WHEN I RECORD A DVD IN MY MWR 10D6 DVD RECORDER IT IS NOT ABLE TO BE PLAYED IN MY OTHER DVD PLAYER WHICH IS A TOSHIBA. WHEN YOU PUT THE DVD IN IT ALWAYS SAYS PLEASE CHECK DISK. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH DVD'S...

When you burn your DVD the disc has to go thru a FINALIISATION process before it can be used on other DVD players. Sounds like either your recorder hasn't run the finalisation or it doesnt do one, in which case your DVD's wont work on another player. Check thru your menu's for a FINALISATION option and make sure you run it.
