Question about Star Logic 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a Star Logic LCD monitor. Recently I have been having a problem powering the monitor on. Sometimes when I press the power button or bring it out of hibernation, the screen remains black and the green power light flashes at a rate of about once per second. After 1-3 minutes, the monitor turns on as normal and works fine until it is turned off/goes into hibernation again. This doesn't happen every time, but often enough that I am concerned.

First place to check will be the DC filter caps in the power supply section. See example of failed monitors due to bad caps here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.
Please post back what you find.

The silver hwite/grey screen means that the LCD panel is not getting the signals, 5vdc from the logic board. Try reseating the connections between the logic board and the LCD panel first.
Also check the power supply caps.

Star logic monitor settings

I typically do capacitor replacement on lcds all the time insde, the board for power will most likely have 1 - 4 blown capacitors, replace these and the monitor should be good as new, btw 1 is a 10 v smallish size you can replace it with a 16 volt same MF.

This is most often caused by a serious failure and the power supply is protecting itself and you from fire by cycling the AC off and on.

Try unplugging the power cord to your computer tower, click the power button to drain the capacitors in the mother board then plug the power cord back in and try to boot up. Has helped me repair several similar black screen problems. Chuck Housecall101@aol.com
