Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
It means your system has the dreaded RROD Or Red Ring Of Death,
If you turn the system on and hold the sync button and then hit the eject button, You can find its code you will have to do it 4 times, 1 light means 1 2 lights means 2 3 Means 3 and 4 lights means 0.
You can usually get a code like 0020 0102 and so on, below is a link that will tell you what each error code means,
also look at the back of your system locate the manufacture date, If it's within 3 years of that date don't open the system call microsoft and have them fix it for free.

SOURCE: xbox 360 has stopped working
it sounds like its an overheating prob or something similar, ive heard that microsoft are extending there warrantys from 1 years to 3 years for anyone having the red light problem, so phone them up, phone number in warranty book. explain problems and find out if its covered on your warranty. hope this helps.

The two red flashing lights on the left side of the circle indicate the thermal limit has been reached. (over-heating) Check to see if the fan on the back of the unit is blowing air. There are external fans that can be added to keep the GPU. (Graphics Processing Unit) and CPU (Central Processing Unit) temp down. Keeping the temp down can prevent the dreaded RRD. (Red Ring of Death) Here is link as an example of a cooling fan. http://www.gamerepairparts.com/xbox-360-cooling-.html
Shop around and find one that you like. Remember, when it comes to these computer chips, cooler is safer.

2 red lights is the overheating error, you will need to try and dust out the console, or what you can do is send it in to get it fixed or use a good guide to fix it
