Question about Taylor Body Fat Analyzer & Scale, Model 5571

Open Question

When using the scale the for first time each day, the weight reading is usually 2 lb low. Stepping off the scales, waiting for the reading to reset, stepping back on usually results in a reading 2 lb heavier. Repeating this sequence produces somewhat consistent results. (2 lb heavier than fist reading) Scales are used on a level tile floor Scales is 2 years old and is used daily Do you have any idea why the first reading reads low? Scale is Taylor model 5571 Thank You Bob Christie

SOURCE: Need an owners manual for taylor mod 5757 bathroom scales

Summary of my manual: you need to initialize it first. Tap the platform lightly. It should show zeroes running across the display for a second or two, then show all zeroes and turn off. It should be initialized...

Instructions for set up are:

  • Turn it on.
  • Select user number using up and down buttons (P0 through P9 can be used).
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Choose gender using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Enter your age using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button.
  • Enter your height (goes in 1/2 inch increments) using up and down buttons.
  • Hit the Set button. (Info is now saved.)
  • When scale changes to 0.0, you can step on, and get your weight.
  • It will blink and change weight possibly for a second or two. When it stops, it shows your weight.
  • Stay standing still on the scale after your weight, and it will gon to show your bodyfat percentage, then your body water percentage.
  • When finished, you can step off, and it will turn off.

Error Codes for the 5757 (according to my manual):

Er 0 Initialization error (remedy described above)

Er 1 Instability error (step off the scale, then back on)

Er 2 Overload warning (registering weight beyond the 440 pound max)

Er 3 Contact error (body impedance beyond technical limit - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)

Er 4 Bodyfat error (bodyfat percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact)

Er 5 Bodywater error (bodywater percentage is beyond range - try dampening feet and try again for better contact
)

SOURCE: how to calibrate a taylor scale 5571

The following reset procedure is used when the scale shows an err2, err, 0.0, inaccurate weight,to calibrate, or some other unusual error.

  1. Remove the battery from the scale.
  2. Sit the scale on a hard surface floor.
  3. Step up onto the scale, stand still for about 5 seconds and step off the scale.
  4. Re-install your battery.
  5. Place the scale back on a hard surface floor.
  6. With one foot only, place just enough weight on the scale for the display shows zero’s or dashes. Once you see zeros or dashes remove your foot.
  7. Wait for the scale to turn off again.
  8. Step up onto the scale for a weight.
If the reset is successful, you should receive a weight right away. If you continue to receive one of the error messages above please call our Customer Service department. You can also try the reset procedure a 2nd time. Sometimes the reset procedure will work the second time.

I have a Health-o-meter but not the same model. Mine still has the instructions pasted (loosely) to the bottom.
The secret is that you must initially press the lower (left or right side) corer for just a second or two. That causes a few dashes and then the scale reads 00.0. Then get on the scale and get your reading.
Alternative behavior:
If you initially press the corner for more than a few seconds it will cycle through User Numbers one through four. If you use that feature it remembers your weight from the last time so you can see the difference.

Shows 0.0lb no weight

Well I figured it out, just in case anyone comes across this. Turn it over, push the button on the top middle of the scale, hold, turn back over, wait until "C" appears on the screen, stand on scale, now it works. :)

Scale keeps showing lo no weight

Try taking the battery out and putting it back in, also there should be a small reset button. You will need a toothpick to push the reset button. Allow time for the scale to reset before stepping on it.

I get an "E" every time i step on scale

Stepping on the scale before the "000.0" causes this error message to appear. If "E" appears, step off the scale and repeat initial RESTART by tapping on the center of the scale. Wait for the scale to indicate 00.0 or something like that THEN step on.

I have a Taylor body fat analyzer and scale model #5563 that keeps showing Err 2. It won't read any weight whatsoever... it just goes stratight to the Error message. Do you know what that means and how I...

From the Taylor Site http://www.taylorusa.com/faq-scales

Here are the basic ERR messages and their meanings:
  • Error 0: Initialization
  • Error 1: Instability (scale is on an uneven surface ex: carpet)
  • Error 2: Unit may have been jarred or unit was overloaded (customer went over the maximum weight capacity)
  • Error 3: Contact error (Feet were not wet for Body fat reading, feet aren’t big enough to reach sensors)
  • Error 4: Body fat is out of range
  • Error 5: Water is out of range
I got an ERR2 message and now the scale doesn’t work. What should I do? The following reset procedure is used when the scale shows an err2, err, 0.0, inaccurate weight, or some other unusual error.
If you continue to receive one of the error messages above please call our Customer Service department or contact us via email. Weight Watchers bathroom scale, Model WW60X

I got it! Press "set". You should see "start goal" in the bottom right. Press the user # you want to save as and press "set" again. The display will blink then display "0.0". Step on the scale to get your current weight. Once it's read you current weight, press "set". A goal weight will display. Press "User 1" to make your goal weight go up and "User 2" to make it go down. Press "set" when the display shows your goal weight. That's it. Now all you have to do is press your user # and wait for "0.0" to display before stepping on the scale.
